  7. Abstract:
  8. Roll bonding process is commonly used for the production of multilayer sheets. In the present study, using the roll bonding process, two layer sheets of copper - stainless steel were produced. In this case bonding strength was measured by peeling test at different statges and the quality of bonding was evaluated by SEM and Stereo Electron Microscope. The cross-sections of the bonding of rolled and annealed samples was investigated by optical microscopy. Also using EDAX analysis and EDS, the chemical composition of formed transition layer and the size of its interface at different temperature are measured respectively and the change in mechanical properties was investigated by tensile test at different states.
In order to determine the best conditions for the production of two layered sheet of copper - stainless steel, the effect of process parameters of roll bonding was examined. Investigation showed that the samples annealed at temperatures of 300, 500, 700 ℃ and different times, the bonding strength was increased significantly in compared to the samples that had been rolled so that the bonding strength at temperatures of 700 for 7 minutes was 18 times greater.
SEM images and test results showed that formation of a transition caused to decrease the bonding properties which its chemical compound contains 53 % Cu, 34 % Fe, 3% Ni , and 10% Cr. Tensile tests showed the best mechanical properties was obtained at 300 ° C and 60 min annealed
