  8. With development of nanotechnology in medicine, nanoparticles are used for detection of tumor and cancer biomarkers. Magnetic nanoparticles are widely used for therapeutic and diagnostic objectives, because of their biocompatibility, ease of preparation and strong magnetic properties. Genistein (C15H10O5) is a soy isoflavone which is used for its anti-cancer activities. It is used for inhibition of cell proliferation, cell growth, and tumor invasion. The aim of this study is to assess the impact of nano-conjugation of geinstein as chemotherapeutic agent against cancer. For preparation of typical iron oxide Nanoparticles, Magnetite nanoparticles were synthesized by coprecipitating iron (II) chloride and iron (III) chloride in alkaline solution. By adding magnetic NPs to phosphate buffer containing 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl). Carbodiimide (EDC) and ultrasonication, covalent binding between Fe3O4 and carboxymethylated chitosan was created. In a typical reaction in presence of EDC and N-Hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) as cross linkers, genistein conjugated to Fe3O4-CMC. The TEM, DLS, FTIR, XRD and VSM analysis showed that the drug delivery vehicle has a mean diameter size around 12nm and size distribution, with well bounded components. This system exhibits high degree of magnetization and superparamagnetic properties. To assess and compare the effect of pure Genistein and Fe3O4-CMC-genistein nano-conjugate on MOLT-4 hematopoitic cancer cells, MTT assay was used. The results reveal that nano- conjugate drug delivery system show increased inhibition effect even in low dose on MOLT-4 cancer cells in comparison to naked genistein, which make it proper and widely used for chemotherapeutic applications
