  7. Abstract:
  8. Inadequate accuracy of four-step demand models, conducted researchers to use the activity-based models. Decisions such as activity type choice and its duration, play a key role in these models as ingredients. On mentioned cases, deciding process is not in order, but is simultaneous. Existence of biases such as Selectivity, is a motivation to use joint models which include a wide spectrum. Due to lacking closed form for most of these models, researchers often confront to some difficulties. Looking for solution for the difficulties, lighten the idea of using Copula transforms to propose joint models. Enjoying Copulas, a closed form for joint models is achievable. Also, a wide range of mathematical functions could be test to discover interdependencies between undetermined terms of decisions. In this research we proposed a joint model for Activity-type and its duration with Copula approach. Besides, Multinomial-Logit and Regression are used respectively as sub-models of discrete and continues decision. The model is calibrated based on Shiraz database of the year 1999. The database is gained from Sharif University Transportation Center. The results show, considering common factors between two sub-models, result in more accurate predictions rather than individual models
