  7. Abstract:
  8. Creating synchronous conditions of precision and speed in rotating systems is a requirement for the design of these systems. The requirement to create these conditions is essential in various applications, such as machine tools and computer equipment. One of the main sources of error in the motion of the high speed spindles is the occurrence of non-repetitive runouts. The presence of non-repetitive runouts at high speeds greatly affects the accuracy of the rotating motion of rotating systems and reducing its effects is always considered in the design of high speed rotary systems. Usually, one of the most important factors in the occurrence of non-repetitive runouts is related to spindle bearing properties. The main objective of this research is to provide a method for optimal design of high speed spindle bearings to minimize the effects of non-repetitive runouts. Firstly, various factors affecting the occurrence of the dynamic phenomenon of non-repetitive runouts in two systems of ball bearings and fluid dynamic bearings for high speed spindles are identified and then, by providing a suitable model for the effects of each of the effective factors, it is related to a quantitative design criterion. So, with proper formulation of objective functions and constraints derived from extraction and solving of governing equations of the dynamic behavior during non-repetitive runouts, an algorithm for optimal design of high speed spindle bearings with the aim of minimizing the number of repetitive and non-repetitive runouts is presented. The results of this study can be used to determine the effect of each bearing design parameters on the amount of runout. The results show that the greatest effect on the amount of repetitive and non-repetitive runouts of spindles with ball bearing and fluid dynamic bearings with herringbone grooves, is caused by permutations of the balls and depth of the groove, respectively
