  7. Abstract:
  8. In this study, cationic polyurethane resin was synthesized by use of the reflux technique under N2 atmosphere. At first TDI was reacted with GMS to form prepolymer with terminal –NCO, also DBTDL was used as catalyst. This prepolymer was then reacted for chain-lengthening with N-methyl diethanolamine compound containing tertiary nitrogen atoms. The chain-lengthened product was then converted into an ammonium compound or cationic compound, by reacting with HCl as reactive hydrogen containing compound. The structure of product was studied by FT-IR spectroscopy. Then the cationic product was used as adduct resin with commercial tow-components polyurethane with proportion of 25%wt, 50%wt and 75%wt and the whole was applied on 304 stainless steel substrate using smooth brush and was cured at 80°c for 1 hour. Due to anti-dust ability analysis and pencil hardness test results, the coating containing 5o%wt cationic resin showed the optimal results. To ensure anti-static characterization of coating, the four-pinned method and high conductive electrolyte (KCl) method were used. The corrosion behavior of coating was studied, using salt spray test and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)
