  7. Abstract:
  8. Electricity has been known as one of the humans’ essential needs. The emergence of a competitive environment in most aspects of humans life and its considerable impact on the economic system in recent years has promoted this idea that the electricity should be traded as a commodity. In this business, the competition has been based on the convenient access for subscribers, and the exclusive electricity environment has became a competitive environment. Therefore, new roles have emerged. These roles take place in the direction of generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy with the aim of improving them. Retailer is one of the emerged roles for restructuring in the field of commodity trading. The purchase of electricity from the wholesale market and sales in the retail market to consumers is the main task of the retailer. Thus in general, the increase in the retailer’s profit depend on the reduction of the cost of purchasing and the increase in the sales revenue of the electricity product.Electric power storage units have the ability to save energy during off-peak times and inject them in peak times. This performance is useful from the technical and economic viewpoint, and helps to avoid the cost of charging due to high cost of electricity during peak times and also the reduction of maximum consumption. So far, most of the studies in the field of the use of storage area have often technically review and they rarely examine the economic aspects of the issue. The purpose of this thesis is to provide a model for planning a electrical energy storage to maximize the profit of a retailer, as well as retailers must provide a certain amount by purchasing from the wholesale market and bilateral contracts, and even by using the demand response resources. In this thesis, we intend to examine the impact of demand response programs on the profitability of the energy storage. In this way, the problem is modeled in the form of a long-term planning in several different studies steps as a mixed integer nonlinear programming problem. Finally, various simulations have been provided to present appropriate analyzes with the aim of adjusting the performance of a retailer based on the amount of profit
