  7. Abstract:
  8. Today, the process of corrosion and compensation of minor injuries, without the need for tracing or any other physical interference, has become one of the subjects of interest to researchers. Inhibitors have been considered as one of the anti-corrosion agents. In this research, safflower extract as a green inhibitor in sodium chloride corrosive environment was used to evaluate the rate of corrosion of mild steel. Also the MoS2 nanoparticles were used as carrier of this green inhibitore in the epoxy coating to allow the activation of the coating in a scratched state in sodium chloride solution of 3.5%. In the first step, the extract of the safflower was prepared to reach the best part of this plant as an inhibitor. The compounds in the safflower plant were detected by the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).In the next step, the 3.5% NaCl solution containing 500ppm of the different part of the safflower plant were prepared, then the corrosion rate of mild steel immersed in these solutions was investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), polarization and noise spectroscopy analysis, and their results were compared with the results of mild steel dipped in the neat 3.5% NaCl solution. The morphology of the surface of immersed specimens was studied by scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM-EDX) and the compounds formed on immersed metals in different solutions were identified by Confocal FTIR test. The results of the EIS test indicated that the addition of 500 ppm of safflower petal extract(SPE) in sodium chloride solution resulted in a significant increase in the corrosion resistance of the mild steel compared to the control sample and other parts of the safflower plant. In the next step, the MoS2 nanoparticles were oxidized by the Hummer method, which increased the distance between the sheets and then, to improve the compatibility with the epoxy matrix, and also the more adhesion of the surface of the epoxy coating with the surface of the substrate, the amino-propyltrimethoxy silane was used to modify the MoS2. In order to investigate the anti-corrosion properties of SPE@MoS2 in epoxy coating, SPE was first loaded into MoS2, then 2% by weight was added to the epoxy matrix. FTIR and UV-Visible tests were used to confirm the absorption of SPE in MoS2.The anti-corrosion properties of epoxy coatings in the presence of SPE@MoS2 and its absence within the Epoxy coating in a scratched state were evaluated by EIS, Pull Off and Salt Spray tests. The formation of corrosion products at the scratch site was investigated by FE-SEM test. Finally, for evaluating the effect of this additive on the strength properties, the DMTA dynamic mechanical thermal analysis was conducted. The results of the EIS test showed that the formation of corrosion products at the scratch site created in the SPE@MoS2 epoxy the epoxy coating containing 2% SPE@MoS2 lead to significantly increasment in anti-corrosion resistance compare to the blank Epoxy. According to DMTA results, adding MoO2 & SPE% 2 resulted in a 10% increasment in the storage modulus
