- Abstract:
- This experimental study evaluates the implementation of atmospheric water generator (AWG) apparatus for rural households to supply the needed water. Humid (atmospheric) air is sucked into the condenser and passed through an air filter by a fan; since the temperature of the condenser is lower than the ambient air temperature (dew point temperature), the moist in the atmospheric air is condensed and freshwater is collected which is stored in a tank and after 7 stages of purification will be ready to drink.Data of this project is obtained from Kish Island’s weather station to find the average temperature and humidity. Kish Island is chosen for this project because of its high humidity and appropriate climate condition for implementation of AWG device and also the scarcity of fresh water resources. It is found that at the average climate conditions of the case study location the AWG device is able to produce water from the limitless source, which is atmospheric air. The AWG apparatus designed with the capacity of 4.633 kW and produces 161 liters freshwater per day. The thermodynamic devices needed for AWG were chosen carefully after a precise design and calculation; it was built and tested in Shiraz city and then transported to Kish Island. The device started to run for 20 day and its result was promising. It could extract water around 62.5 liters per day. The reason of difference between the amount expected and produced will be discussed
