  7. Abstract:
  8. Poor hole cleaning while drilling due to problems such as pipe sticking and ROP reducing will increase drilling cost. It is almost impossible to optimize the hole cleaning during the well planning due to the large number of effective parameters, so it is very important to monitor the hole cleaning conditions while drilling. The best way to monitor the well condition during drilling is using the real time drilling data (RTDD). Hook load (HKL) is one of many RTDD parameters that measured at the surface during drilling operations so it can be used to evaluate the hole cleaning condition. In this research, how to process the raw data recorded while drilling has been investigated. In the next step, the existing experimental models and equations for evaluating the hole cleaning conditions are discussed because it helps to better understand the concepts of cleaning and also their complexity proves to us that other methods such as RTDD should be used to control the hole cleaning conditions. In the continue, the concepts of hook load and forces on it are discussed because the forces on hook load have an important role in the developed model. According to the studied concepts, a model for instantaneous evaluation of hole cleaning conditions while drilling operations using hook load that is one of RTDD parameters has been developed and tested on the Volve field data in the North Sea. The results confirm that the model can be used to evaluate the hole cleaning conditions while drilling operation because it has been able to correctly identify the hole cleaning problems that occurred during the operation, which are recorded in the final report (End Report)
