  7. Abstract:
  8. This project is dedicated to design and implementation of a 77 GHz Power Amplifier for FMCW automotive radar application. Design of this type of Power amplifier faces several main challenges. The first challenge is due to the limits of technology used for implementing the power amplifier design (CMOS 65nm), for example the low breakdown voltage of transistors forces us to use low supply voltage. The other challenges are high frequency effects and complexity of design in mm-wave frequency. however, there are phenomena which dont have any important effect on output results in low frequency, but we should consider those when designing Power Amplifier in mm-wave frequencies. In order to compensate the low voltage supply, the size of transistors should be increased to reach high output power. On the other hand, if the size of transistors are increased, the parasitics of transistor and the complexity of impedance network matching design will be surged. To solve these problems, innovative technics similar to power combining is used. Power combining and Parallel transistor technics have their own limits which can be overcome by utilizing a balanced structure to achive desired Gain, PAE and output power. Balanced structure offers advanatages in stability and impendance matching. In the end, A 3 stage power amplifier with balanced structure has been designed. Power Gain of the proposed PA is 21.7 dB and output power and PAE are 15.4 dBm and 13.78% respectively. The total consume power is 240 mW
