  7. Abstract:
  8. Underbalanced drilling is a type of drilling operation in which the pressure of the drilling fluid is less than the pressure of the formation. This pressure difference has created advantages for this method. Less formation damage, reduction of pipe stuck, increasing rate of penetration and production during drilling are the advantages of this method compared to traditional methods. To reduce the pressure of the drilling fluid, very low density fluids should be used. One way to reduce density is to mix a compressible fluid such as gas into water. Due to the difference in density and surface tensile strength of water and gas, these two phases do not combine, so a stable combination of these two fluids can be created by adding a foaming agent. Due to the compressible nature of this type of drilling fluid, its hydraulic calculations are much more complex than overbalanced drilling fluid and it is necessary to define parameters such as foam quality to describe the behavior of the foam. Considering the mentioned complexities and the increasing use of underbalanced drilling, the need to model and simulate the behavior of this fluid along the drilling path is felt. In this research, by developing a model based on existing hypotheses and calculating the properties of foam properties, the behavior of foam along the path is simulated. The results obtained from this model are shown in the form of diagrams and are studied in detail. The effect of operating parameters such as choke pressure, injection gas properties, injection fluid properties as well as formation influx during drilling, drilling speed and, cutting properties on the behavior of foam has been investigated
