  7. Abstract:
  8. The elastic field is one of the challenges in optimizing the lifetime and capacity of the lithium-ion batteries. Graphite nanoparticles have been widely used in Li-ion batteries, due to their mechanical, thermal and electrical properties. During the lithiation, chemical reactions occurred in the electrolyte, which forms a solid electrolyte interphase(SEI) in the surrounding of nanoparticles as well as stress fields inside the nanoparticles. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to examine the effects of the surface/interface on diffusion induced stresses(DIS) within core-shell nanosphere due to non-uniform distribution of eigenstrain fields. Due to the mechanical behavior of the phases, spherically anisotropic and functionally graded (F.G) properties is proposed in the core and the coating, respectively. The chemo-mechanical potential function(CMPF) has been used to approach Li-ion concentration under the galvanostatic operation within the nanoparticle. Tensor spherical harmonics(TSHs) method has been used. Inorder to obtain the DIS within the core-shell. Results show that DIS is significantly affected by surface parameters rather than interface parameters and are greatly reduced by the surface/interface residual tension. Meanwhile, stress field has obtained in fast charging and low diffusivity condition
