  7. Abstract:
  8. Mixing efficiency is an important performance indicator in many chemical reactors. In the present study, using a computational fluid dynamics model, the quality of micromixing in a double-disk-spinning reactor with the ability to rotate both disks using a fast iodide-iodate competitive reaction has been investigated. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of operational parameters such as the speed and direction of rotation of disks, radius and number of entry points of one feed, distance between disks, volumetric flow of feed, feed inlet nozzle diameter and acid concentration (H+) on quality of micromixing. The simulation results show that by increasing the rotation speed of the disks, increasing the radius and number of feed entry points, reducing the distance between the two disks, reducing the volume flow of the feed, reducing the inlet nozzle diameter and rotating the disk in the opposite direction Separation is reduced, which indicates an increase in mixing quality. The effect of acid concentration on the feed to the reactor was also investigated. The result shows that with increasing acid concentration, the separation index increases and the mixing quality decreases. Therefore, the iodide-iodate reaction is very sensitive to the initial concentration of acid (H+) and to determine the quality of micro-mixing, a concentration appropriate to the desired reactor must be selected. In general, it turns out that double-disk-spinning reactors that can rotate both disks, have better mixing quality than other conventional reactors
