    Abstract
Chiral recognition has long been a challenging issue to deal with in biological systems, drug design and food authentication. Implementing nanoparticle-based probes with intrinsic or induced chirality in this field has addressed several issues concerning sensitivity, reliability, rapidness and the cost of chiral sensing platforms. Yet, research into chiral nanoprobes that can be used for visual monitoring of chiral substances is still in its infancy. As part of this study, a visual chiral recognition platform has been developed in which a combination of blue-emitting carbon dots (BCDs) and mercaptopropionic acid-capped CdTe quantum dots (MPA-QDs) with inherent chiroptical activity were...

    Abstract
In this work Halloysite nanotubes were used to synthesis a series of modified acrylamide/Quince seeds-based hydrogels (Poly (AAm-co-QS)/Haln). The as-prepared Poly (AAm-co-QS)/Haln hydrogels displayed improved performance as adsorbent in elimination of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solution. The structures of the prepared Poly (AAm-co-QS)/Haln hydrogels were identified by XRD, FT-IR, FE-SEM, BET, TGA and EDX. Effect of pH value on the swelling behavior and dye adsorption performance of as-prepared hydrogels was explored. The adsorption MB results suggested that the adsorption kinetics fitted the pseudo-second-order model. The adsorption experiments at various pH condition indicated that...

    Abstract
A series of ZIF-8/OND hybrid nanostructures with different percentages of oxidized nanodiamond (OND) was prepared. The maximal adsorption capacity of ZIF-8 (242 mg/g) was found to grow steadily with the increment in OND content and reached an approximate plateau at 343 mg/g for the nanohybrid containing 5 wt% OND, i.e....

The photochromic switchable imidazoles: Their genesis, development, synthesis, and characterization

    , Article Dyes and Pigments ; Volume 203 , 2022 ; 01437208 (ISSN) Bagheri, M ; Mirzaee, M ; Hosseini, S ; Gholamzadeh, P ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2022
    Abstract
Switchable photochromic dyes have benefited greatly from the use of heterocyclic chemicals. The imidazole group is particularly essential because it can be transformed into dimers, which can then be radicalized in the presence of light photons. Imidazole dimers have been optimized throughout thirty years of research, allowing derivatives with diverse colors, quick reversibility, and sensitivity to different wavelengths from UV to near IR ranges. These imidazole dimers are interesting to be used in the matrices of polymers, hydrogels, glasses, solar cells, and even pharmaceuticals. The goal of this review is to look at the history, development, and future of imidazole dimers. We will also...

    Abstract
Application of construction and demolition (C&D) wastes were considered as sustainable development goals (SDGs) for maintaining raw materials. Also, lightweight concretes such as aerated autoclaved concrete (AAC) were used for partitioning spaces in the building industry. Moreover, the waste products of the mentioned materials were increased due to the rise of old construction demolitions. This study contributes a calcinated aerated autoclaved concrete (CAAC) which is efficient, powerful, highly rapid, non-expensive and novel adsorbent for the removal of cationic dyes including malachite green (MG), methyl violet (MV) and methylene blue (MB) form water samples. The impacts of different...

    Elsevier Ltd  2022
    Abstract
In this study, a series of Zirconium-based MOF and chitosan composites (MOF-808/chitosan) were synthesized as efficient adsorbent for Cr(VI) ions elimination from aqueous solution. MOF-808/chitosan structure and morphology was characterized by FE-SEM, EDX, XRD, BET, zeta potential analysis, FT-IR, XPS techniques. The kinetic studies ascertained that Cr(VI) adsorption over MOF-808/chitosan followed pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The adsorption isotherms fitted the Langmuir isotherm model, implying on homogeneously adsorption of Cr(VI) on the surface of MOF-808/chitosan. According to the Langmuir model, the maximum capacity was obtained to be 320.0 mg/g at pH 5. Thermodynamic investigation...

    Abstract
A ratiometric fluorescent nanoprobe is developed with a wide color variation for visual determination of spermine (SP) and spermidine (SD) in meat samples. The green emission provided from the combination of yellow emissive quantum dots and blue emissive carbon dots turns into pink when SP or SD are present. The results show that the developed sensor has good linearity in the range of 0.5–10 and 0.5–80 µM for SP and SD and suitable detection limits were achieved including 0.2 and 2.1 µM for SP and SD. The probe was highly selective in the presence of amino acids and other biogenic amines. RGB indices were extracted to build a combinational logic gate for visual and simultaneous detection of...

    Abstract
A series of UiO-66/polyaniline (UiO-66/PANI) nanohybrids with various UiO-66 to aniline weight ratios ranging from 0.01 to 0.1 was synthesized using an in situ polymerization technique. The adsorption behavior of the neat PANI nanofiber network and the synthesized nanohybrids was examined toward anionic methyl orange (MO) dye from aqueous media. It was realized that the maximum adsorption capacity of PANI (229 mg/g) increases steadily by increasing the UiO-66 content in the nanohybrid up to 7 wt % at 426 mg/g, and then, it approximately levels off at 432 mg/g for the nanohybrid sample containing 10 wt % UiO-66, that is, UP10. Based on a thorough characterization, it was shown that UiO-66 is...

    , Article Microporous and Mesoporous Materials ; Volume 343 , 2022 ; 13871811 (ISSN) Amin, P ; Shojaei, A ; Hamzehlouyan, T ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2022
    Abstract
A series of nanohybrids using ZIF-8 in the presence of chitosan (CS) at various compositions (0.5–15 wt%) were synthesized. Thorough characterization exhibited that the morphology of the nanoparticles in terms of surface charge, particle size, specific surface area, and pore volume is significantly dominated by the CS content in the hybrid nanoparticles. Amongst the nanoparticles synthesized, a hybrid nanoparticle containing 2 wt% CS, named CS-ZIF-2, represented the largest positive zeta potential and smallest particle size. Moreover, adsorption experiments indicated that CS-ZIF-2 had considerable adsorption capacity against anionic dye (Congo Red, CR) compared with the individual ZIF-8 and...
