    The deployment of flexible ac transmission system (FACTS) devices, despite miscellaneous benefits and applications, has been restricted mainly due to their large investment costs. Accordingly, the notion of distributed FACTS (D-FACTS) was recently proposed. Distributed static series compensators (DSSCs), as a new member of D-FACTS, are directly clamped to conductors of transmission lines. The possibility of controlling the compensation rate of DSSCs from the control center affords the active control of network power flow.     In this paper via a novel method of discretized continuous-time Kalman filter, the problem of synchronization and cryptography in fractional-order systems has been investigated in presence of noisy environment for process and output signals. The fractional-order Kalman filter equation, applicable for linear systems, and its extension called the extended Kalman filter, which can be used for nonlinear systems, are derived.     Abstract
    In this paper the derivation of Kalman filter for discrete time-stochastic fractional system is investigated. Based on a novel cumulative vector form model for fractional systems, a general Kalman filter is introduced. The validity of the proposed method has been compared with a previously presented method via simulation results. It is shown that this method can be better applied for discrete time stochastic fractional systems with slower dynamics

    In this work a new method for analyzing nanostructured materials has been proposed to accelerate the simulations for solid crystalline materials. The proposed Structural Approximation Method (SAM) is based on Molecular Dynamics (MD) and the accuracy of the results can also be improved in a systematic manner by sacrificing the simulation speed. In this method a virtual material is used instead of the real one, which has less number of atoms and therefore fewer degrees of freedom, compared to the real material.     This paper presents a new inference algorithm for active learning method (ALM). ALM is a pattern-based algorithm for soft computing, which uses the ink drop spread (IDS) algorithm as its main engine for feature extraction. In this paper, a fuzzy number is extracted from each IDS plane rather than from the narrow path and the spread, as in previous approaches. This leads to a significant reduction in the hardware required to implement the inference part of the algorithm and real-time computation of the implemented hardware.     A high-order compact finite-difference lattice Boltzmann method (CFDLBM) is proposed and applied to accurately compute steady and unsteady incompressible flows. Herein, the spatial derivatives in the lattice Boltzmann equation are discretized by using the fourth-order compact FD scheme, and the temporal term is discretized with the fourth-order Runge-Kutta scheme to provide an accurate and efficient incompressible flow solver. A high-order spectral-type low-pass compact filter is used to stabilize the numerical solution.     In this paper, an effective way is proposed for reduction of oscillations in the response of dynamical systems. In this regard, it is analytically shown that the undesirable oscillations in the response of dynamical systems can be reduced using a simple input shaping fractional order filter. The effectiveness of the proposed fractional calculus based technique is numerically verified in reduction of oscillations in a mass-spring-damper system, a low-pass Chebyshev filter, and a PI-controlled two-mass drive system

This method not only reduces the speckle noise of the single-look SAR imagery considerably, but it significantly enhances the segmentation results.     Quarter-wavelength superconducting spiral resonators have been used to realize a coplanar waveguide bandpass filter and bandstop filter around the center frequency of 6 GHz. These compact coplanar waveguide filters have been made from 300-nm-thick NbTiN thin film on a 525-μm-thick silicon substrate. The bandpass filter is a six-pole Chebyshev filter with two zero transmissions due to nonadjacent coupling in its structure.     This article examines the Weibull statistical analysis that was used for investigating the effect of melt filtration on tensile properties and defects formed inside the casting. Forming and entrapping of double oxide films have been explained by using the context of critical velocity of melt in the runner.
