    Abstract
DSP algorithms are one of the most important components of modern embedded computer systems. These applications generally include fixed point and floating-point arithmetic operations and trigonometric functions which have long latencies and high power consumption. Nonetheless, DSP applications enjoy from some interesting characteristics such as tolerating slight loss of accuracy and high degree of value locality which can be exploited to improve their power consumption and performance. In this paper, we present an application-specific result-cache that aims to reduce the power consumption and latency of DSP algorithms by reusing the results of the arithmetic operations executed on the same...

The idea of selecting shale sample was because of variety of this rock type in Iranian oil and gas formations. In the experiment, a long pulsed laser beam was arranged to drill and propagate surfaces, in the opposite direction to the earth gravity, and it was used to drill hole from the top to the bottom of cylindrical Shale rock. The heat that been induced from the Fiber laser is absorbed in the direct surfaces in front and cause heat flux generation inside of rock texture. The specific heat transfer inside of shale sample can...

Simply synthesized TiO2 nanorods as an effective scattering layer for quantum dot sensitized solar cells

    , Article Chinese Physics B ; Vol. 23, issue. 4 , 2014 Samadpour, M ; Zad, A. I ; Molaei, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
TiO2 nanorod layers are synthesized by simple chemical oxidation of Ti substrates. Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy measurements show effective light scattering properties originating from nanorods with length scales on the order of one micron. The films are sensitized with CdSe quantum dots (QDs) by successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) and integrated as a photoanode in quantum dot sensitized solar cells (QDSCs). Incorporating nanorods in photoanode structures provided 4- to 8-fold enhancement in light scattering, which leads to a high power conversion efficiency, 3.03% (Voc = 497 mV, Jsc = 11.32 mA/cm2, FF = 0.54), in optimized structures. High efficiency can be obtained...

    , Article IEEE Transactions on Terahertz Science and Technology ; Vol. 4, issue. 3 , April , 2014 , p. 383-390 Shirmanesh, G. K ; Yarmoghaddam, E ; Khavasi, A ; Mehrany, K ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this paper, we propose a circuit model for two-dimensional arrays of metallic square holes located on a homogeneous substrate, in order to propose a new scheme containing this type of metamaterials to obtain transparent electrodes with simultaneous terahertz transparency and low electrical resistance. The results of the introduced circuit model, which is a fully analytical model with explicit expressions, are in almost complete agreement with the full-wave simulations. Thanks to this analytical model, we can employ standard binomial matching transformer in order to minimize the reflected power from the structure at a desired frequency. Furthermore, taking advantage of this model, we...

    Abstract
The capability level of rotary as well as first generation drilling operation could not be matched for deeply drilling programs. To reach that deep, the increasing in drill string length could also cause an additional constraint on hydraulic performance. The operation of slim hole drilling has significant potential to reduce well costs. This cost might be savings are especially important with increased demand for reduced capital finance under current economic conditions in the Iranian oil and gas industry. This savings achievement could be caused by use of smaller drilling rigs, work over rigs, reduced casing size, reducing requirement for drilling consumables and other costs associated with...

    2013
    Abstract
A single chip UHF-RFID transceiver front-end is presented. The chip was designed according to EPCglobal Class-1 Gen-2 and supports both ETSI and FCC requirements. The receiver front end is capable of rejecting self-jammers as large as 10 dBm with the aid of a feedback loop. The stability and the robustness of the loop and other system requirements are studied. A 30 dBm class-AB power amplifier (PA) with 28% PAE is also integrated on the chip. The pseudo differential architecture of the PA greatly reduces the injection of the signal into the substrate. A simple model is used to estimate the effect of the substrate noise injection by the PA on the receiving circuit modules and design guides...

    Abstract
An accurate thermal model to predict the heat generation in rechargeable batteries is an essential tool for advanced thermal management in high power applications, such as electric vehicles. High power rechargeable Li-ion (7.5 Ah) batteries have been experimentally investigated and the results are used for model verification. It is shown that the State-of-Charge dependent...

    Abstract
The demand for bidirectional DC/DC converters is increasing because of their potential capability for sustainable energy conversion systems where the power is to be captured from or stored in energy storage elements. This paper presents a three-phase series resonant bidirectional converter which is suitable for high power applications. The converter consists of two three-phase full bridge networks, the resonant tanks and a high frequency three-phase transformer. All switches can work either in ZVS or ZCS mode. The voltage drop on leakage inductances is minimized by choosing the switching frequency close to the resonant frequency, allowing high efficient power conversion. The phasor analysis...

    Abstract
Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives have many advantages over other drives, i.e. high efficiency and high power density. Particularly, PMSMs are epoch-making and are intensively studied among researchers, scientists and engineers. This paper deals with a novel high performance controller based on genetic algorithm. The scheme allows the motor to be driven with maximum torque per ampere characteristic. In this paper assuming an appropriate fitness function, the optimum values for d-axis current of motor set points at each time are found and then applied to the controller. Simulation results show the successful operation of the proposed controller

By using the combination of photonic crystal and oxide layer, we have achieved high power VCSEL that operated fundamental mode. The influence of the hole etching depth of photonic crystal looking for the highest power and the lowest threshold current is also investigated
