Improving the Performance of HMM-Based Speech Enhancement Techniques

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mariooryad, Soroosh (Author) ; Sameti, Hossien (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Various applications of speech processing systems are gaining more and more attention. Performances of these systems are dramatically affected in presence of background noise. Attempts toward improving quality of degraded speech have emerged into filed of speech enhancement which is one of the interesting topics in speech processing domain. In this thesis various single channel speech enhancement methods are studied briefly. Statistical methods as one of the most successful methods are studied more deeply. These methods are divided into two categories of short-term modeling of speech and long-term modeling. The aim of this thesis is to improve the performance of long-term methods of...

Development of an Online Calibration Algorithm for Three Axis-Magnetic Sensor through Data Fusion Techniques

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Khatib, Sedigheh (Author) ; Salarieh, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
There are challenges in controlling and guidance of vehicles which makes it necessary to have true information about the position, velocity, and orientation of the system. This issue is severe to some extent when a UAV is the object to be controlled. The navigation system is responsible for supplying the mentioned information which is usually accompanied with some errors. Therefore, threre are a wide range of algorithms developed for omitting these errors leading to a well-calibrated navigation system. One of the precise and reliable calibration method is based on the data fusion of intertial navigation sensors and magnetometer measurements. As the obtained data via magnetometers are usually...

Optimization on TDOA-Based Localization and its Feasibility Study

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Heidari, Vahid (Author) ; Haj Sadeghi, Khosrow (Supervisor) ; Pezeshk, Amir Mansour (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, the problem of locating a source based on the time difference of arrival (TDOA) has been studied and three different methods have been presented to improve the precision of the positioning. The first method is a solution to the least square error (LSE) by utilizing a convex problem. Generally, the mentioned problem is a non-convex problem; however, it is possible to convert it to a convex one by some relaxation in the constraints. By some justifiable and insightful relaxation, not only we obtain a convex problem, but also the exact solution of the main problem is derived. The second method is using high perturbed TDOA measurements which severely affected the localization....
