    Abstract
Bimodal magnetic-fluorescent materials for diagnostic imaging needs surface-engineered nanoparticles with great biosafety, pronounced colloidal stability, high magnetic moments, and strong photoluminescence (PL) emission. This work presents polymer-coated nanoparticles (PCNPs) based on manganese ferrites covered with a thin shell of nitrogen-doped carbon dots for magnetic-resonance and fluorescent dual mode imaging of cancerous tumors in vivo. An in situ thermolysis of metal oxalates and phenylenediamine in diphenyl ether allows for the facile synthesis of hybrid magneto-fluorescent nanoparticles. They possess an average size of 55 ± 5 nm with strong and excitation-independent PL emission at...

    Abstract
This article presents a modified Green–Lindsay (MG-L) thermoelasticity model considering temperature and strain rate. Previously, this model has been developed based on the Green–Lindsay theory of thermoelasticity using strain and temperature rate dependent thermoelastic equations. This study analyzes stress and thermal wave propagation of a functionally graded medium exposed to an electromagnetic field and a thermal shock. All magnetic, elastic, and thermal features of the medium are considered to vary in the longitudinal direction. Additionally, the properties of the material are dependent on the temperature in the form of a cubic function. Using the large displacement formulation and the...

    Abstract
In this paper, a common energy harvester is investigated which uses a specimen of magnetic shape memory alloy (MSMA). The aim of this study is to improve system performance and to evaluate the magneto-mechanical loading on the MSMA material. Since demagnetization effect is not included in the employed original MSMA model, a method to incorporate this effect is proposed which has a good performance for the specific magneto-mechanical loading of this problem. In order to decrease the need for bias magnetic field and increase system efficiency, a new return mechanism for the MSMA specimen is proposed. The results indicate that the maximum harvested power from the improved system is obtained at...

Novel theories on magneto-electro-elastic ellipsoidal multi-inclusions and inhomogeneities and associated impotent fields

    , Article Mechanics of Materials ; Volume 143 , 2020 Rashidinejad, E ; Shodja, H. M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2020
    Abstract
The exact nature of the induced coupled-fields of anisotropic magneto-electro-elastic ellipsoidal inclusions, multi-inclusions, and inhomogeneities with non-uniform eigenfields under polynomial magneto-electro-elastic far-field loadings is of particular interest. For the sake of prediction of the induced coupled-fields of magneto-electro-elastic multi-inclusions due to piecewise polynomial generalized eigenfields several theorems and corollaries are stated and proved. Some classes of impotent generalized eigenfields associated with encapsulated ellipsoidal multi-inclusion result in vanishing generalized disturbance strains within the innermost ellipsoidal domain. On the other hand, it is...

Modeling of magnetic shape memory alloy plates for pressure sensor application

, Article Journal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures ; 2020 Sayyaadi, H ; Naderi, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    SAGE Publications Ltd  2020
    Abstract
This article investigates the basis for pressure sensor application based on the magnetic shape memory effect in membranes. Von Karmans nonlinear terms are considered in strain–displacement relationships of thin films, and a new method is presented for solution of large deflections of thin films with arbitrary boundary condition. In this study, the equations of motion of magnetic shape memory alloys are extended. In pressurized membranes, the complex distribution of mechanical stress can cause the martensitic reorientation, which is the underlying mechanism for sensing applications in magnetic shape memory alloys. To examine the obtained model, the governing equations of magnetic shape...

    Abstract
This study considers the aeroelastic instability of a partially treated magneto-rheological fluid sandwich panel in supersonic airflow. The linear first-order piston theory is used for modeling the aerodynamic pressure. Using classical Hamilton’s principle along with the finite element method, the equations of motion are derived. The critical value of the non-dimensional aerodynamic pressure is obtained by traditional p-method scheme. The validity of the finite element formulation is examined through comparison with those obtained from the assumed mode formulation and the available results in the literature. Various parametric studies including the effects of applied magnetic field, core and...

    Abstract
The current work reveals the exact nature of the induced interior and exterior coupled-fields of magneto-electro-elastic ellipsoidal inclusions with non-uniform generalized eigenfields, consisting of eigenstrain, eigenelectric, and eigenmagnetic fields. The medium has general rectilinear anisotropic elastic moduli, piezoelectric, piezomagnetic, dielectric, magneto-electric, and magnetic permeability tensors. The non-uniform eigenfields are assumed to be representable as the product of any arbitrary functions whose arguments are the equation of the boundary of the ellipsoidal inclusion with homogeneous polynomials. As a special case, it has been proved that the homogeneous polynomial...
