    Abstract
Prostate cancer (PCa), the second most malignant neoplasm in men, is also the fifth leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men globally. Unfortunately, this malignancy remains largely asymptomatic until late-stage emergence when treatment is limited due to the lack of effective metastatic PCa therapeutics. Due to these limitations, early PCa detection through prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening has become increasingly important, resulting in a more than 50% decrease in mortality. Conventional assays for PSA detection, such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), are labor intensive, relatively expensive, operator-dependent and do not provide adequate sensitivity....

Using Body Fluids for Early Prostate Cancer Detection

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Jalali Dowlatshahi, Sayeh (Author) ; Abdekhodaie, Mohammad Jafar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Today, despite the notable progress in diagnostics and therapeutics, cancer remains the second cause of death worldwide. This rather high mortality rate is often attributed to cancers diagnosed at late stages, including prostate cancer. Among the techniques approved for prostate cancer diagnosis, total or free prostate-specific antigen screening using blood serum samples is the sole method able to detect prostate cancer at an early stage. This test has led to a significant decrease in prostate cancer-related deaths. Nonetheless, it possesses several drawbacks, such as the complex, costly, and time-consuming conventional methods utilized in clinical laboratories to assess the concentration of...

Mathematical Modeling of 188Re-PSMA in Rats and its Human Absorbed dose Estimation

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hadisi, Maliheh (Author) ; Vosoughi, Naser (Supervisor) ; Yousefnia, Hassan (Supervisor) ; Bahrami Samani, Ali (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men and the fourth leading cause of death in the world. In this study, the 188Re-HYNIC-PSMA radiolabeled compound was produced as a compound for use in the treatment of prostate cancer and its metastases under optimal labeling conditions and its radiochemical purity was obtained above 98% using RTLC and HPLC chromatographic methods. This compound is stable at room temperature and in human blood serum for at least 48 hours after preparation. The biological distribution of this compound was investigated in each rat tissue and the amount of injected activity per unit mass of each tissue (%ID/g) was determined. The bio-distribution of 188...
