    In this paper we study and present an in-depth analysis on the operability and the viability of a typical wireless optical CDMA (OCDMA) local area network. Three receiver structures for OCDMA systems, using optical orthogonal codes (OOC) with minimum auto and cross-correlations as signature sequence, namely, correlation, correlation with hard-limiter, and chip-level detection are studied and proposed for such a network.     Petroleum production often involves simultaneous flow of three immiscible fluids through underground porous rock formation. In this work, we measure two- and three-phase relative permeabilities with which we examine the performance of various 3-phase relative permeability models. The rock-fluid systems used in these measurements are comprised of sandstone samples, oil (n-decane), water (Nacl, 6000. ppm) and gas (nitrogen).     A magnetic polyurethane (PU) nanocomposite was synthesized by an electrospinning technique and applied for isolation and preconcentration of fluoxetine from aquatic and biological samples. The nanocomposite was electrospun using a PU polymer solution containing the dispersed magnetic nanoparticles. The magnetic properties of iron nanoparticles, along with the use of an electrospinning technique, led to the formation of a suitable sorbent toward isolation of fluoxetine.     This technical note addresses the free vibration problem of an elastically restrained Euler–Bernoulli beam with rotational spring-lumped rotary inertia system at its mid-span hinge. The governing differential equations and the boundary conditions of the beam are presented. Special attention is directed toward the conditions of the intermediate spring-mass system which plays a key role in the solution.     Although CO2 injection significantly increases the amount of oil recovered, it can cause asphaltene deposition in oil reservoirs. Asphaltene deposition leads to formation damage, in which treatment is a costly and problematic operation. In this work, impact of asphaltene precipitation and deposition during CO2 injection are investigated for recombined oil both in sandstone and carbonate core samples through dynamic flow experiments. Injection of oil and CO2 was performed simultaneously. Then, pressure drops along the core were recorded continuously to estimate permeability reductions during the experiments.     A Bayesian framework for 3-D human pose estimation from monocular images based on sparse representation (SR) is introduced. Our probabilistic approach aims at simultaneously learning two overcomplete dictionaries (one for the visual input space and the other for the pose space) with a shared sparse representation. Existing SR-based pose estimation approaches only offer a point estimation of the dictionary and the sparse codes. Therefore, they might be unreliable when the number of training examples is small.     The details of the crystal structure of the recently discovered Y 3Ba5Cu8O18+δ (Y358) superconductor have been determined by ab initio density functional theory. Total energy calculation has been performed for three different suggested structures with different oxygen content. The structure with a center of inversion symmetry and the highest oxygen concentration has the lowest total energy. Thus, it is the best choice for the Y358 crystal structure.
