Evaluating the Changes in the Mean Vector and Covariance Matrix of EDP Distribution for different IM and Ground Motion Selections

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Golchin, Pouya (Author) ; Rahimzadeh Rofouei, Fayyaz (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, the changes in the mean vector and the covariance matrix of engineering demand parameter (EDP) distributions for different intensity measures and ground motion selections is evaluated. Although, the changes in the mean distribution of EDPs have been extensively studied in the literature, but the changes in the covariance matrix of EDPs distributions caused by ground motion selections has not been paid the due attention. In other words, no study has specifically looked into the effect of intensity measure changes on the covariance matrix; therefore, for the purpose of this study, several steel frame models were considered with perimeter special moment resisting frames (SMRF)....

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Gerami, Payam (Author) ; Salarieh, Hassan (Supervisor) ; Khayyat, Amir Ali Akbar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Control of line of sight (LOS) orientation is a fundamental prerequisite for virtually all dynamic applications in which an optical sensor is used to obtain images. In this research, a 3 DOF parallel mechanism is utilized to build a stable platform for high precision satellite photography. The platform may be designed based on the Stewart platform concept. The stability is obtained by controlling the roll, pitch and yaw of the mechanism. To apply linear control techniques and to use roll-pitch and yaw rates and also their absolute values, an active stable platform is designed. Line Of Sight (LOS) is a position vector from origin of a topocentric-horizontal system to the satellite of...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kamali, Sara (Author) ; Akbari, Saeed (Supervisor) ; Ghorbani, Ebrahim (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Let G be a simple graph. An eigenvalue of G, is a main eigenvalue if the corresponding eigenspace has a non-orthogonal eigenvector to the all-one vector j. A signed graph is a graph with a sign to each edge. If in the adjacency matrix of background graph change elements that corresponded by -1, set -1 and in the other elements don’t make any change, then we reach the sign matrix of a signed graph. By an eigenvalue of a signed graph, we mean an eigenvalue of its sign matrix. In this research, we study main eigenvalues of graphs and signed graphs. At first, we present the necessary and sufficient conditions for any graph which has exactly m main eigenvalues. Then, by introducing and creating...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kalami Yazdi, Ali (Author) ; Eftekhary, Eiman (Supervisor) ; Esfahani Zadeh, Mostafa (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, we first define the pseudo-distance p on the group of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms.Using the concept of displacement energy, we show that the pseudo-distance p is degenerate and if the manifold is closed, p will be zero for each p = 1; 2; 3; : : : Then, we introduce Lagrangian submanifolds and prove that if L R2n is a rational Lagrangian submanifold, we have the following inequality e(L) ≥ 1γ(L). : Finally, using the above inequality and the concept of displacement energy, for M = R2n we prove that 1 is non-degenerate. Therefore, the hypothesis for 1 to be a metric, are satisfied. This metric is called Hofer’s metric

Machine Learning in 2D Compressed Sensing Datasets

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Keshvari, Fatemeh (Author) ; Babaiezadeh, Massoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Compressed Sensing (CS) technique refers to the digitalization process that efficiently reduces the number of measurements below the Nyquist rate while preserving signal structure. This technique was originally developed for the analysis of vector datasets. An x ∈R^n vector is transformed into an y ∈R^m vector so that n≪m. For a sufficient number of measurements, this transformation has been shown to preserve the signal structure. Therefore, the technique has been applied to machine learning applications.2D-CS was further developed for matrices (image datasets) so that they could be directly applied to matrices without flattening. X ∈R^(n×n) is transformed into Y ∈R^(m×m) via 2D-CD such...

Evaluation of the Impact of Exhaustible Energy Resources on Factor Productivity

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Karami Darabi, Mohammad (Author) ; Saboohi, Yadollah (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Economics is the science of using scarce resources, which helps to identify the optimal use of economic resources. Enhancement of productivity leads more efficient use of resources in economics sectors. Identification of ways and means of improving productivity is an important policy issue which requires an analysis of the effects of determinants of productivity. In the present research work, Total Factor Productivity (TFP) has been econometrically estimated; based on production function theory. Application of this concept indicates that the elasticities of total value-added (i.e. GDP minus oil rents) with respect to physical capital and labor are 0.8 and 0.2 respectively. It is further...

Measuring Core Inflation by Using the VAR Approach

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Pourmohammadi, Monire (Author) ; Nili, Masoud (Supervisor) ; Madanizadeh, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The present study aims to calculate the core inflation percentage using a SVAR model. Core inflation which is defined in policy-making, includes that component of measured inflation that has no (medium- to) long-run impact on real output but rather includes monetary and demand shocks. To this end, the VAR model is defined with 4 endogenous variables, namely production, inflation, money supply and exchange rate in addition to 2 exogenous variables, which are dummy (due to attracting the uneven behavior of exchange rate) and energy prices. Core inflation is produced using the results of the model estimation and the monetary and demand shocks. The results show that the core inflation usually...

Snappfood UGC Classification Using Machine Learning and Comparison of SVM and NB Methods

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Honarvar, Mohsen (Author) ; Najmi, Manoochehr (Supervisor)
    Abstract
One way for businesses to grow and compete, in any age (especially the digital age), is to create a Brand Relevance through creating or finding, and then owning new categories or subcategories. In this way, instead of beating competitors; they become irrelevant by enticing customers to buy a new category or subcategory for which other alternative brands are not considered relevant. Firms traditionally rely on interviews and focus groups to identify these subcategories and customer needs. Nowadays, with the growth of social media, user-generated content (UGC) is also a good alternative source. However, Due to the large size of UGC and the non-informative or repetitive data it contains,...

Design of a Model Airplane with Fluidic Thrust Vectoring Control
