    Abstract
    This paper deals with the issue of economic batch quantity (EBQ) in a single machine system in which defective items are produced in each cycle of production. The defective items produced in the first N cycles are accumulated at the end of the Nth cycle and are all reworked in a separate cycle called the rework cycle which has the same length as the other cycles and begins just at the end of the Nth cycle. At the end of the rework cycle the whole process will start all over again. For this system, assuming no shortages are permitted we obtain the economic batch quantity which minimizes the total cost

    A batch extraction of an essential amino acid, Phenylalanine, from an aqueous solution of different concentrations by an Emulsion Liquid Membrane (ELM) was developed using D2EHPA as a cationic carrier, Span 80 as the surfactant, paraffin and kerosene as the diluents, and HCl as the internal electrolyte.     In this research, the separation of tellurium from selenium was studied from chloride solution by TBP extractant. In the batch experiments, the experimental findings indicated that the feed acidity, TBP concentration, and contact time were optimized to achieve the high separation factor. In continuous mode of pulsed disc and doughnut column, the impacts of operating parameters have been discussed on the distribution coefficients of selenium and tellurium, and mass transfer enhancement.     Abstract
    The effects of temperature, seed mass and agitation rate on agglomeration kinetics of aluminum hydroxide in Bayer process have been studied in a batch system. Collected raw data were analyzed and the kinetics data of agglomeration were derived through simulation of the process using a pre-developed software. The results showed that agglomeration kinetics constant (agglomeration kernel) increases with increase in temperature and agitation rate. Moreover a maximum value of agglomeration rate versus added seed mass was observed. Furthermore the magnitude of calculated activation energy of agglomeration was close to that of growth

    This study proposes a multi-objective control algorithm for simultaneous process and quality control in non-Gaussian stochastic batch processes.     A spent processing catalyst from an Iranian oil refinery was initially characterized physically and chemically. Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans and Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans were used to mobilize Al, Co, Mo and Ni from the spent catalysts under optimized conditions in batch cultures. The characteristics of the bioleach solution (pH, Eh, cell concentration and Fe(II)/Fe(III) concentration) were determined along with the concentration of metal values extracted from the catalyst. The results showed that after bioleaching using A. ferrooxidans in the presence of ferrous sulfate, maximum extractions of 63% Al, 96% Co, 84% Mo and 99% Ni were achieved after 30 days at pH 1.8-2.0.
