, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rajabpour, Foroud (Author) ; Dolati, Abolghasem (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Selection of appropriate coating system is the most important subject in corrosion control of buried pipelines. Corrosion control of buried pipelines is achieved by using a combination of barrier coatings and cathodic protection (CP). Applying barrier coating can decrease the protection current of CP. However, at the coating holidays the pipeline act as cathode generating hydroxyl ion and hydrogen electrochemically. Therefore the selected coating should be compatible with the alkaline condition. This research focuses on evaluating of an epoxy-tar and a urethane-tar based coating. Coatings performance has been tested by accelerated corrosion test methods (i.e. Salt spray according to ASTM...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Imanieh, Iman (Author) ; Afshar, Abdollah (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Smart coatings which prevent corrosion by several mechanisms recently have been carefully planned. One of these mechanisms is the use of ion exchangers like Layered Double Hydroxide (LDH) in the coating network. In this study, the LDH containing a kind of green inhibitor (sodium molybdate) was synthesized and utilized in a Poly-Vinyl Alcohol (PVA) base coating applied on the aluminium (5054 series) surface. After evaluating the LDH performance, the inhibitor release from the LDH crystals was examined by changing significant parameters like MII/MIII (the molar ratio of divalent ions into trivalent ions), pH, aging time and temperature. Considering the LDH morphology or the thickness of the...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Vahdatkhah, Parisa (Author) ; Sadrnezhaad, Khatiboleslam (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This research is divided in three parts. In the first part of this research, we report the one-pot synthesis of carbonate-coated nanostructured LLO (Li2CO3@LLO) through a polyol-assisted method as a Li-ion battery cathode. Carbonate protects the cathode from adverse reactions with the electrolyte, also reduces the layered-to-spinel phase transition, thereby stabilizing the cathode structure. LLO nanostructure provides a fast Li+ diffusion. The target material exhibits excellent long-term stability with 77% capacity retention after 1000 cycles at 0.2C-rate. In the second part of research, Li(Na-doped)-Mn-Ni-O oxides were synthesized by different LiOH.H2O amount, type and amount of reducing...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Majidnia, Elahe (Author) ; Mohammadi, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Hydroxyapatite (HA) is an attractive biomaterial due to its close chemical composition to bone and teeth. However, HA is brittle and has low strength under bearing loads, resulting in limition for orthopedic and dental applications. Two creative approaches have been developed to overcome this problem, using bioactive HA as coatings on metallic implants or as ceramic/metal composites. Carbon nanotubes (CNT) possess excellent mechanical properties to play the role as reinforcement for imparting strength and toughness to brittle hydroxyapatite (HA) bioceramic coating. Moreover, The addition of TiO2 to HA coatings has attracted considerable attention, since TiO2 is capable of increasing the...
