    Abstract
    Cobalt is the most common binder in cemented carbides industry. However, there are some interests in use of alternatives. The similarity in properties has made nickel the first choice. In the present work, the effect of initial composition on modern hardmetals containing transition metal carbides/carbonitrides that are called "cemented carbonitrides" with nickel as binder was investigated. Change in quantity of additive carbides and tungsten to carbon (C/W) weight ratio through applying metallic tungsten powder in primary powder mixture had some effects on final hardness, transverse rupture strength, and microstructure of studied alloys.     In the present paper, numerical simulation of thermal barrier coating system under thermo-mechanical loadings is performed, using the finite element method in ABAQUS software. The base material is Aluminum-silicon alloy, A356.0 which is widely used in automotive components such as diesel engine cylinder heads. Thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) are applied to combustion chamber in order to reduce fuel consumption and pollutions and also improve fatigue life of components.     A new broadband frequency discriminator is introduced for demodulating the frequency modulated signals in the microwave frequency range. Direct demodulation with no need for tuning the center frequency of the resonance circuits is the most important advantage of the proposed technique. This technique uses the in-phase/quadrature demodulation, in some manner, without using any additional local oscillator for down conversion.     In this work, thermo-mechanical behavior and microstructural evolution in similar and dissimilar friction stir welding of AA6061-T6 and AA5086-O have been investigated.     The Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) method has been used to study the reliability of many different power generation systems. This paper now applies that method to a wind turbine (WT) system using a proprietary software reliability analysis tool. Comparison is made between the quantitative results of an FMEA and reliability field data from real wind turbine systems and their assemblies.     Abstract
    Application of immobilized horseradish peroxidase (HRP) in porous calcium alginate (ca-alginate) for the purpose of phenol removal is reported. The optimal conditions for immobilization of HRP in ca-alginate were identified. Gelation (encapsulation) was optimized at 1.0% (w/v) sodium alginate in the presence of 5.5% (w/v) of calcium chloride. Upon immobilization, pH profile of enzyme activity changes as it shows higher value at basic and acidic solution. Increasing initial phenol concentration results in a decrease in % conversion.
