    Abstract
In this report, the fabrication of vertically aligned carbon nanotube nanoelectrode array (VACNT-NEA) by photolithography method is presented. The fabricated array illustrated sigmoidal cyclic voltammogram with steady state current dominated by radial diffusion. The fabricated VACNT-NEA and high density VACNTs were employed as electrochemical glutamate biosensors. Glutamate dehydrogenase is covalently attached to the tip of CNTs. The voltammetric biosensor, based on high density VACNTs, exhibits a sensitivity of 0.976 mA mM-1 cm-2 in the...

Highly sensitive voltammetric determination of lamotrigine at highly oriented pyrolytic graphite electrode

    , Article Bioelectrochemistry ; Volume 84 , 2012 , Pages 38-43 ; 15675394 (ISSN) Saberi, R. S ; Shahrokhian, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    2012
    Abstract
The electrochemical behavior of lamotrigine (LMT) at the pyrolytic graphite electrode (PGE) is investigated in detail by the means of cyclic voltammetry. During the electrochemical reduction of LMT, an irreversible cathodic peak appeared. Cyclic voltammetric studies indicated that the reduction process has an irreversible and adsorption-like behavior. The observed reduction peak is attributed to a two-electron process referring to the reduction of azo group. The electrode showed an excellent electrochemical activity toward the electro-reduction of LMT, leading to a significant improvement in sensitivity as compared to the glassy carbon electrode. The results of electrochemical impedance...

    , Article Journal of Solid State Electrochemistry ; Volume 16, Issue 4 , April , 2012 , Pages 1561-1569 ; 14328488 (ISSN) Gobal, F ; Jafarzadeh, S ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Layers of cobalt and manganese oxides were co-deposited or deposited on top of each other or next to each other by potentiostatic method onto stainless steel substrate. Deposition potentials of 1 and -1 V for the anodic and cathodic depositions were employed. Specific capacitance values in the range of 38.5-78 F g -1 were found with cobalt oxide on top of manganese oxide having the lowest and manganese oxide on top of cobalt oxide having the highest capacitances. The usefulness of the electrodes was characterized by cyclic voltammetry, charge-discharge cycling, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in 2 M NaOH electrolyte for redox supercapacitor applications. The latter presented the...

    Abstract
The corrosion behavior of different grades of commercial aluminum such as AA1040, AA5083, AA6060 and AA7075 in ZnO-containing 4 M NaOH has been determined by using open circuit potential-time measurements (OCP), galvanostatic and potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive analysis of X-ray (EDAX) reveal that ZnO produces the inhibition effect by the formation of a zinc-containing deposit layer on the surface of aluminum electrodes. Although the influence of zincating on the performance of aluminum alloys and considering the amount of alloying elements such as zinc, magnesium and...

The indirect optical band gap energy of TiO2 nanowires, anatase- and rutile-TiO2 nanoparticles was calculated to be 3.35, 3.28 and 3.17 eV, respectively. The power conversion efficiency of the solar cells changed with nanowire to nanoparticle weight ratio, reaching a maximum at a...

    , Article Ionics ; Volume 19, Issue 2 , May , 2013 , Pages 287-294 ; 09477047 (ISSN) Farsi, H ; Gobal, F ; Barzgari, Z ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
Agglomerates of tungsten trioxide in the range of 90 nm to 1 μm are prepared by the acid precipitation method and characterized by XRD as well as scanning electron microscopy. The product when coated with platinum showed pseudocapacitance when in contact with acidic electrolyte in the potential range of 0. 1 to -0. 25 V/SCE. Capacitance in the range of 0. 014 to 0. 039 F cm-2 exhibiting moderate potential dependencies measured through both chronopotentiometry and impedance spectroscopy is presumed to be due to the insertion/de-insertion of protons into the lattice of tungsten trioxide. Equivalent circuit consisting of parallel simulators of mass transfer and capacitor charging...

The results indicate that the electrochemical response of GA is improved significantly at the modified electrode compared with the unmodified electrode. Furthermore, the capabilities of electron transfer on these two electrodes were also investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Under the optimized...

    Abstract
Abstract: Surface-nanostructured TiO2 nanorods were synthesized hydrothermally at 180 °C. Such nanorods have ‘crack-like’ surfaces that resemble burnt charcoal. Compared to nanorods with relatively smoother surfaces, the charcoal-like nanorods have higher-specific surface areas. By using the nanorods as a light-scattering layer in double-layered dye-sensitized solar cells, the cells based on the charcoal-like nanorods have 20 % higher dye loading and also higher diffuse reflectance compared with cells utilizing ‘smooth’ nanorods. The efficiency of a screen-printed double-layer dye-sensitized solar cell based on the charcoal-like nanorods is higher at 7.29 %. Electrochemical...

CdS nanoparticles were grown via facile successive ion layer absorption and reaction (SILAR) method. Using these two well-controlled methods, CdS/WS2/ITO and WS2/CdS/ITO systems were fabricated. The loading of WS2 nanosheets was...

    Abstract
Discharge characteristics of nanorods (NRs), microsized and nanosized copper (II) oxide (CuO) particles prepared via thermal decomposition and thermal oxidation routes are examined as cathode materials of a Zn/CuO cell without membrane separators. The electrochemical discharge is examined galvanostatically at a current density of 500 mAg−1 and reveals that the first discharge cycles of all the CuO materials contain one potential plateau; subsequent discharge cycles involve three potential plateaus. Each potential plateau is due to an electrochemical reaction. The first, second, and third potential plateaus are attributed to Cu2O3, CuO, and Cu2O discharges,...

    Abstract
The corrosion inhibition effect of zinc acetylacetonate (ZAA) and benzothiazole (BTH) mixture was evaluated for mild steel in 3.5% NaCl solution. To this end, ZAA:BTH mixtures ranged from 6:1 to 1:6 mol ratios were examined by weight loss and open circuit potential to obtain optimal mole ratio. The optimal mixture of ZAA:BTH at 1:5 mol ratio showed a significant corrosion inhibition efficiency proved by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and polarization studies. The addition of the optimal mixture of ZAA:BTH to epoxy coating showed a considerable increase of corrosion protection evaluated by salt spray exposure
