    Abstract
In this research, a novel, rapid, and non-immune electrochemical method was used to detect cardiac troponin I (cTnI) using a double recognition approach. Amine terminus cTnI aptamers immobilized on COOH-ZnO nanoparticles (COOH-ZnONPs) modified GCE surface were applied to capture cTnI for imprinting recognition. The COOH-ZnONPs were synthesized in a biological manner. Then, the methylene blue (MB) monomers were electro-polymerized around the cTnI-aptamer complexes. Following the removal of cTnI, cavities were constructed and converted to a new aptamer and molecular imprinted polymer (MIP) hybrid receptor (aptamer/MIP/ZnONPs). FT-IR spectra, SEM images, XRD patterns, and electrochemical...

    Elsevier B. V  2020
    Abstract
A novel AC impedance study on three-dimensional hybrid structures of graphene sheets/MoS2 nanorose (GMS) toward ethanol vapor detection is presented in this work. These defective 3D hybrid porous structures are sensitive to the presence of different gases as a result of charge transfer with gas species, as well as a change in the effective capacitance of the system. The sensing behavior of the samples is investigated throughout time-dependent impedance measurement and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The sensor response is estimated at about 20% to 10 ppm ethanol vapor, with the response and recovery times about 3.2 s and 0.8 s, respectively. Sensing mechanism proposed to...

    Abstract
In planar perovskite solar cells (PSCs), engineering the extraction and recombination of electron–hole pairs by modification of the electron transport layer (ETL)/perovskite interface is very vital for obtaining high performance. The main idea here is to improve properties of the TiO2/perovskite interface by inserting an ultra-thin layer (UTL) of WO3 or SnO2 with the thickness of less than 10 nm by RF magnetron sputtering method. The structural and electrical characteristics of the samples were tested by XRD, AFM, FE-SEM, Mott-Schottky analysis, UV–Vis spectroscopy, J-V characterization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). It was found that the bilayer structured ETLs exhibit...

    Abstract
In the present study, thermally oxidized nanodiamond (OND) was first modified non-covalently with dodecylamine (DDA) as corrosion inhibitor. In this respect, reactive primary amine of DDA molecule with high isoelectric point (IEP) could interact easily with negative charge carboxylic acid groups of OND. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) proved that OND nanoparticle was successfully functionalized by DDA up to approximately 5 wt% grafting contnet. Both OND and dodecylamine modified OND (DND) were loaded in epoxy (EP)/polyamine hardener matrix at the same concentration of 1 wt% and applied on mild steel substrate. Morphology of EP-DND and...

    Springer  2020
    Abstract
Among the various approaches, ZnS treatment is the most convenient method for reducing the charge recombination in quantum dot-sensitized solar cells (QDSSCs). Here an improved method of ZnS treatment is explained for efficiency enhancement in QDSSCs. To get to the goal of device performance improvement, it is essential to have a uniform deposited layer. We utilized Triton X-100 (TX-100) as a surfactant to the convenient aqueous precursors during ZnS deposition by successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction method. It helps to decrease in contact angle and increase in wettability of the aqueous precursor and results in a more uniform deposited layer. The effect of modified ZnS treatment...

    Abstract
A label-free electrochemical biosensor was developed for the rapid detection of the matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) biomarker on the basis of antibody immobilizing on the zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticle and ZnO nanorod electrodes. The charge transfer resistance (Rct) of the electrodes was used as the indicator for MMP-9 concentration, which was obtained through cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The ZnO nanorod-based biosensor exhibited linear behavior in the MMP-9 concentration range of 1–1000 ng/ml, which is a wider range than the available concentration ranges for most of the conventional methods. The biosensor sensitivity was 32.5 μA/(decade × cm2)...

    Abstract
The high charge carrier recombination rate and weak oxygen evolution kinetics have impeded the efficiency of WO3 photoelectrodes for water splitting. We present a novel type II heterojunction semiconductor based on mixed WS2 and MoS2 nanosheets on WO3 nanoflakes hydrothermally grown on highly porous W skeletons. The chemically exfoliated transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) sheets with submicrometric lateral sizes were deposited on the surface of WO3 nanoflakes by the electrophoretic technique to fabricate a staggered gap heterojunction. The photoanode exhibited an impressive current density of 14.9 mA cm−2 at 1.23 VRHE which comprised ∼1.7 mA cm−2 photocurrent under 100 mW cm−2 simulated...

    Abstract
In this study, we have investigated the use of electrodeposited Au-Pt nanoparticles (AuPtNPs) on indium tin oxide (ITO) for the detection of Hg2+ heavy ions in water samples. The mechanism of AuPtNP electrocrystallization on ITO glass in an aqueous solution containing 0.5 mM HAuCl4 + 0.5 mM H2PtCl6 is described for the first time. The nucleation mechanism of monometallic AuNPs on ITO was found to be progressive; however, a transition from progressive to instantaneous was observed for bimetallic AuPtNPs at elevated overpotentials. The modified ITOs were then assessed for the electrodetection of Hg2+ in aqueous media. It was shown by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) that the sensitivity of...

Smoothing and coverage improvement of SnO2 electron transporting layer by NH4F treatment: Enhanced fill factor and efficiency of perovskite solar cells

    , Article Solar Energy ; Volume 228 , 2021 , Pages 253-262 ; 0038092X (ISSN) Keshtmand, R ; Zamani Meymian, M. R ; Mohamadkhani, F ; Taghavinia, N ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Surface modification of SnO2 electron transporting layer (ETL) plays a critical role in the performance of SnO2-based planar perovskite solar cells (PSC). Here, we show how long-time NH4F-based water bath treatment of SnO2 layer makes smoothing and morphological improvements and enhances the device performance. Recently it was shown that short-time NH4F treatment (2 sec) with spin coating method reduces interface traps by improving surface chemistry. Here we observe the smoothing of SnO2 films as a result of long-time NH4F treatment, which could be a result of a slight etching-deposition process. Absorption and resistivity measurements indicate that SnO2 etching process is involved in...
