    Abstract
Barium strontium titanate (BST) was prepared via the simple sol-gel method by using tetrabutyl ti-tanate, ethanol, citric acid and ethylene glycol as starting materials. Thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis were used to examine the behaviour of the xerogel. The particle size of BST was approximately 21 nm, as calculated by the X-ray diffraction and confirmed by transition electron microscopy for the calcination temperature of 750 °C. It was found that the particles of BST powders calcined at 750 °C were smaller and more homogeneous and uniform than those obtained at 800 °C

    , Article Journal of Physical Chemistry C ; Volume 113, Issue 47 , 2009 , Pages 20214-20220 ; 19327447 (ISSN) Akhavan, O ; Ghaderi, E ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Graphene oxide platelets synthesized by using a chemical exfoliation method were deposited on anatase TiO2 thin films. Postannealing of the graphene oxide/TiO2 thin films at 400 °C in air resulted in partial formation of a Ti-C bond between the platelets and their beneath thin film. By using atomic force microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analyses, UV-visible light-induced photocatalytic reduction of the graphene oxide platelets of the annealed graphene oxide/TiO2. thin films immersed in ethanol was studied for the different irradiation times. After 4 h of photocatalytic reduction, the vertical space between the platelets decreased from about 1.1 to less than 0.8 nm and the...

    Abstract
Herein, we describe for the first time synthesis, characterization, chemosenor behavior, and mechanism of metal ion-ligand interaction of two novel side-armed naphthodiaza-crown macrocycles (L1 and L2) by employing of IR, 1H and 13C NMR, UV–vis, fluorescence spectroscopy, CHN microanalysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Preliminary fluorescence studies in ethanol as solvent revealed that the metal ion recognition by L1 was strongly different from L2 suggesting the importance of the number of benzylic side-arms on the extent of the interaction with Mn+. For instance employing fluorescence titration in ethanol showed binding constant values 105 M−1 and 2.6×106 M−1 for L1/Al3+ and...

    Abstract
Reactivity controlled compression ignition has been introduced to implement controllable, clean, and high thermal efficiency without undermining the advantages of premixed combustion. However, simultaneous auto-ignition introduced by reactivity controlled combustion challenges the combustion under higher load operations. This experimental study incorporates a dual phase heat release concept with the purpose of improving the performance of reactivity controlled compression ignition engine. Different ratios of ethanol/diethyl-ether blends (from 0% to 40% diethyl ether and 70% premixed ratio) were applied to a light duty diesel engine at various combustion timings and engine loads. The diesel...

    Abstract
Despite their potential applications, a limited number of studies for synthesizing vertical MoS2 nanoflakes especially via CVD have been reported so far, which generally involve tedious complex- and/or multi-step growth processes. In this study, direct synthesis of vertical MoS2 nanoflakes grown on the SiO2/Si substrate during a rapid sulfidation process by CVD method has been reported. Material characterization was performed using Raman spectroscopy, XRD and FE-SEM. The XRD results indicated the dominant phase of 2H–MoS2 within the synthesized layers. The characteristic distance between the two dominant peaks of E1 2g and A1g in the Raman spectra confirms the multi-layered structure for...

Bioethanol supply chain network design considering land characteristics

    , Article Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews ; Volume 119 , 2020 Rahemi, H ; Torabi, S. A ; Avami, A ; Jolai, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2020
    Abstract
Biomass is becoming an increasingly widespread source of energy. Yet land, as one of the most important resources in biomass production, is surprisingly understudied in the literature of biomass supply chain planning. This study proposes a novel framework that combines the literature of bioethanol supply chain design with agricultural land planning to simultaneously address optimal supply chain planning and sustainable land use in a bioethanol supply chain. A bi-objective mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model is proposed to formulate the optimal design and planning of a bioethanol supply chain network considering competition of food and biomass feedstock over the available croplands....

    Abstract
In order to deal with the limitations of micro-pumps and micro-valves and meet the advantages of magnetic systems a novel plan is described here. The idea behind the plan is that magnetic particles, mixed and dispersed in a carrier liquid, can be accumulated and retained at specific sites to form pistons in a micro-tube using some external magnetic field sources along the tube. In other words, using some solenoids and switching them on and off, in a specific order and period, causes the desired external magnetic field variation through the tube. Changing the period and the mode of activation and deactivation of the solenoids, which are called switching time and switching mode, respectively,...
