, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Naseri Karimi, Vahid (Author) ; Ashouri, Hossein (Supervisor) ; Tavakoli, Rouhulla (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Metallic glasses have been applied in industry owing to their attractive mechanical, physical, and chemical properties. such as high electrical resistivity, soft-type superconductivity, good magnetic softness, high strength and large elastic strain. These unusual properties make the amorphous alloys potentially useful for various applications, which originate from the intrinsic random atomic configuration. but their plasticity is low and this disadvantage limites their applicable range as a engineering material. In this study we try to improve plasticity of metallic glasses by structural rejuvenation. Structural rejuvenation in metallic glasses by a thermal process (i.e. through recovery...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Forouzan, Ali (Author) ; Akbari, Javad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The fiber-reinforced composite materials possess advantage for structural purpose in various industries. Delamination is recognized as one of the major causes of damage during drilling of fiber reinforced composites, which not only reduces the structural integrity, but also has the potential for long-term performance deterioration. It is difficult to produce precise quality holes with high efficiency by conventional drilling method. Drilling is frequently applied in production cycle while the anisotropy and nonhomogeneity of composite materials affect the chip deformation and machining behavior during drilling. In this thesis, a new non-traditional drilling technology is presented for solve...

    Efficient Offloading in Ambient Cloud

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Golkarifard, Morteza (Author) ; Movaghar Rahimabadi, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Execution speed seriously bothers application developers and users for wearable devices such as Google Glass. Intensive applications like Mobile Augmented Reality (MAR) suffer from significant delays when CPU is busy. Energy is another concern when the devices are in low battery level but users need them for urgency use. To ease such pains, one approach is to expand the computational power by cloud offloading. This paradigm works well when the available Internet access has enough bandwidth. Another way, however, is to leverage nearby devices for computation offloading, which is known as device-to-device (D2D) offloading. In this paper, we present Dandelion, a unified code offloading system...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Jamshidi Hassanabadi, Ali (Author) ; Akbari, Javad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This research studies the feasibility of the BK7 optical glass milling process with ultrasonic vibrations. Due to the fragility of glasses, especially optical glasses, machining is very sensitive and complex. For this reason, it is necessary to think for the glass machiners to minimize the defects and failures of the process. So far, efforts have been made to reduce the defects caused by machining on brittle materials, such as increasing the speed of the period, reducing the feed rate of the tool, changing the geometry and the type of tool, the type of process lubrication, etc. In addition, other operations performed to improve the surface of the glass are of better quality, using hybrid or...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Tamtaji, Mohsen (Author) ; Mohammadi, Aliasghar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The main purpose of this project is synthesis of the silica nano-sheets by means of microfluidic techniques. Continuous process, precise control of reaction condition, and higher production rate can be considered as main pros of silica nano-sheets synthesized by microfluidic platforms. General method can be explain as follow: first two oleic and aqueous phase are injected to the microfluidic system, then oleic phase breaks down in aqueous phase drop-wisely and by performing sol-gel reaction on the oil-water interface a silica crust is made on oil droplets. Eventually, oil droplets are left the system and broken down and silica nano-sheets are made. FESEM and microscopic images of...

Numerical Investigation of the Performance of Concrete Beamcolumns with FRP Bars under Concentric and Eccentric Loading and Four-Points Bending

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Aghabozorgi, Pegah (Author) ; Khaloo, Alireza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) bars with significant corrosion resistance lead to an improvement in the performance of concrete structures and a significant reduction in costs. High ratio of tensile strength to weight, non-conductive, and non-magnetic properties are other features of GFRP bars. Recent international design standards, such as ACI 440.1R-15 do not recommend including FRP reinforcement in compression, so they replace them by concrete in calculations. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of concentric and excentric axial loading on the axial capacity and ductility of GFRP reinforced concrete columns compared to steel reinforced concrete columns,...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ali Asghar Mamaghani, Mojtaba (Author) ; Khaloo, Alireza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Today, many evidences, including the distribution of galactic velocities, gravitational lensing observations, and the cosmic microwave background, show that there exist dark matter (non-baryon matter) in large-scale cosmological structures that are stable, free of charge and without color, which has gravitational interaction like normal matter. The hypothesis that weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) as a dark matter candidate with mass range of several tens of GeV to several teV and with the typical couplings of Electroweak order of magnitude, is an attractive and desirable model, Which naturally explains the density of cosmic dark matter in agreement with observations. Alongside...

Experimental Investigations on RC Arches Strengthened Using GFRP Sheets

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kazemian, Alireza (Author) ; Khaloo, Alireza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
A total of twenty-four reinforced concrete arches with dimensions of 110 × 30 × 10 cm were casted, fabricated and tested. There are three variables, including: height to span ratio, longitudinal reinforcement ratio and arrangement and number of FRP layers.Based on results, with increasing height to span ratio, the efficiency of FRP strengthening method decreases. It is due to the fact that FRP materials inherently behave better in tension. From another point of view, in lower arches (L group) extrados bonding technic has better effect on increasing peak load of the arches, while in higher ones (H group) intrados bonding is discerned as the best method of strengthening. This paradoxical...
