    Abstract
A new complex of copper (II) was synthesized through the reaction of a Schiff-base, 4-(((2-hydroxyethyl)imino)methyl)phenol, with CuCl2·2H2O and, then, immobilization on SBA-15 support. Both immobilized and free copper complexes were characterized using different techniques such as FT-IR, elemental analysis (CHN), SEM, XRD and TEM, and were utilized as catalysts in one-pot azide-alkyne cycloaddition (AAC) reaction. Both catalysts showed high activity in conversion of various substrates to corresponding triazole compounds. The reaction was performed in water under mild condition and without any extra additives. The prepared catalyst was recovered and reused in 5 runs without any significant...

Additionally, the effect of temperature on the carbonization process was studied. The Pd/Fe3O4@PC nanocomposite was used as an efficient and heterogeneous catalyst for Suzuki–Miyaura and Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions in an environmentally...

    Abstract
Due to the high activity of Au nanoparticles (NPs) for various reactions, many researchers have tried to develop heterogeneous catalysts in order to prevent irreversible agglomeration of Au NPs. Herein, magnetic graphene oxide modified with polyaniline (PANI) was used as a support for Au NPs that brings together advantages including: uniform dispersal of the catalyst in water, alarge surface area related to the graphene oxide; easy electron transfer in chemical reactions and good attachment of Au NPs to the support associated with PANI; and finally facile recovery in the presence of a magnetic field. Catalytic reduction of different analytes (Congo red, methylene blue, rhodamine B and 4-nitro...

Interaction of ionic liquids with the surface of silica gel using nanocluster approach: A combined density functional theory and experimental study

    , Article Journal of Physical Organic Chemistry ; Vol. 27, issue. 2 , 2014 , pp. 163-167 ; ISSN: 08943230 Vafaeezadeh, M ; Fattahi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Silica gel-confined ionic liquid (IL) is a class of heterogeneous catalysts with broad catalytic applications. Leaching of the IL from the surface of the support is the major drawback of these catalysts, which reduce the catalyst efficiency during the chemical reactions. To investigate the effect of the hydrogen bonding on the leaching phenomena, the interaction between the 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium-based IL with various anions (Cl-, Br-, HSO4 -, NO3 -, BF 4 -, and PF6 -) and the surface of the silica gel were studied using density functional theory. Hence, a hydroxylated cage-like cluster of silica gel, Si4O6(OH), was selected to mimic the surface. The values of ÎEinteraction show that...

Both homogenous and heterogeneous catalysts exhibit outstanding activity and selectivity for epoxide with tert-BuOOH in decane as oxidant at 95 °C. In addition, the heterogeneous nanocatalyst was chemically stable and can be efficiently reused for at least six cycles without a...
