    In oil and gas fields, it is a common practice to flow liquid and gas mixtures through choke valves. In general, different types of primary valves are employed to control pressure and flow rate when the producing well directs the natural gas to the processing equipment. In this case, the valve normally is affected by elevated levels of flow (or velocity) as well as solid materials suspended in the gas phase (e.g., fine sand and other debris).     Estimation of demand function for natural gas in Iran: Evidences based on smooth transition regression models

    Abstract
    This paper attempts to study the demand function of natural gas in Iran using smooth transition regression model (STR). To this end, gross domestic productions (GDP), real price of natural gas and temperature have been employed as variables explaining the natural gas demand from 1971 to 2009. The results indicate that natural gas demand follows an LSTR1 nonlinear two-regime model if the real price of natural gas is considered as the transition variable. Estimation results also indicate that the slope parameter approximately equals the high value of 10 and the threshold value is 31.82.     A simple correlation to estimate natural gas viscosity

    Abstract
    A general investigation of the viscosity of natural gas as a function of temperature, pressure and composition was carried out to develop a generalized correlation. The model obtained was based on 3231 data points of 29 multicomponent mixtures in wide ranges of pressures (0.1-137.8MPa), temperatures (241-473K) and specific gravities (0.573-1.337). Correction terms for non-hydrocarbons of hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide and nitrogen were up to 70, 54.4 and 15.8 of mole percent, respectively. The arithmetic average of the model's absolute error was found to be 5.05%, which is acceptable in engineering calculations and has superiority over other methods in its class

    Homogenous charge compression ignition (HCCI) combustion has the potential to work with high thermal efficiency, low fuel consumption, and extremely low NOx-PM emissions. In this study, zero-dimensional single-zone and quasi-dimensional multi-zone detailed chemical kinetics models were developed to predict and control an HCCI combustion engine fueled with a natural gas and reformer gas (RG) blend.     The wellhead flow control valve bodies which are the focal point of this failure case study were installed in some of the upstream facilities of Khangiran's sour gas wells. These valve bodies have been operating satisfactorily for 3 years in wet H2S environment before some pits and cracks were detected in all of them during the periodical technical inspections.     Adsorption isotherms of H2S, CO2, and CH4 on the Si-CHA zeolite were measured over pressure range of 0-190 kPa and temperatures of 298, 323, and 348 K. Acid gases adsorption isotherms on this type of zeolite are reported for the first time. The isotherms follow a typical Type-I shape according to the Brunauer classification.     This study attempts to examine the natural gas fired power plants in Iran. The required data from natural gas fired power plants were gathered during 2008. The characteristics of thirty two gas turbine power plants and twenty steam power plants have been measured. Their emission factor values were then compared with the standards of Energy Protection Agency, Euro Union and World Bank.     The present study was conducted to investigate the impacts of retrofitted CNG vehicles on air pollutant emissions in Tehran over a 20 years period using available statistical data, precise automobile tests, data analysis, and LEAP Software.     Accurate value determination of natural gas viscosity plays a key role in its management as it is one of the most important parameters in natural gas engineering calculations. In this study, a comprehensive model is suggested for prediction of natural gas viscosity in a wide range of pressures, temperatures, densities and compositions. The new model can be applicable for gases containing heptane plus and non-hydrocarbon components. It is validated by the 2011 viscosity data from 18 different gas mixtures.     This study presents economic and formation investigations on hydration effects by looking at natural gas hydrate (NGH) storage and transportation processes and formation conditions. The investigation includes experiments with methane. The obtained results show that the methane formation time increased linearly as the subcooling temperature decreased.
