    Investigations on the Effect of Biosurfactants on the Wettability of Carbonate Rocks via Interactions with Rock and Fluid in Ex-Sito MEOR

    Abstract
    The effects of biosurfactants on sandstone rocks are known in the literature. However, there are few examples of experimental works in Iranian carbonate reservoirs dealing with the effects of biosurfactants under reservoir conditions. This thesis discusses the effect of an efficient biosurfactant produced from Pseudomonas aeroginosa MRo1, a bacterial strain isolated from oil excavation areas in southern Iran, on the recovery of residual oil trapped within carbonate rocks was investigated. The MRO1 could reduce surface tension from 72 to 28 dyne/cm. It also could reduce Interfacial tension from 18.382 to 5.646 dyne/cm.

    In this research, Nickel recovery has been investigated from spent catalyst (NiO/Al2O3) in reformers of direct reduction iron plant (Midrex). Genetic Algorithm method was applied for screening and optimization of the parameters affecting on the Ni dissolution in sulphuric acid by means of Design Expert Software.     Abstract
    Alkaline-Surfactant-Polymer flooding is one of the most novel chemical enhanced oil recovery methods in the petroleum industry. This method has attracted interest due to its remarkable advantages. In this work, a series of ASP floods are conducted on fractured/non-fractured carbonate rocks. The performance of the tests was investigated by various ASP floods consisting of five types of polymers, two surfactants and one common alkaline. ASP was flooded simultaneously and sequentially in four defined scenarios after water flooding. Most of the works in this field are based on the conventional Shannon-Nyquist sampling theory.     Various fracture geometrical properties such as orientation, extension, discontinuity, dispersion, location, and networking were investigated. Results indicate improved oil recovery and sweep efficiency in the presence of vertical fractures. Longer vertical fractures seemed to have even more beneficial effects. Horizontal fractures revealed detrimental effects on oil recovery and the performance became worse for longer horizontal fractures.     In this paper, we propose an Adaptive Singular Value Thresholding (ASVT) for low rank recovery under affine constraints. Unlike previous iterative methods that the threshold level is independent of the iteration number, in our proposed method, the threshold in adaptively decreases during iterations.     In this paper, we investigate the recovery of a sparse weight vector (parameters vector) from a set of noisy linear combinations. However, only partial information about the matrix representing the linear combinations is available. Assuming a low-rank structure for the matrix, one natural solution would be to first apply a matrix completion to the data, and then to solve the resulting compressed sensing problem.
