    Abstract
    This paper presents a novel approach for detection and recognition of multi-view faces whose size and location is unknown and the illumination conditions are varying. The illumination is a big problem in face detection and recognition. In this paper, a new pre-processing method is proposed in order to cancel the effect of various illumination conditions on a face. Then, a binary face is obtained that its pixels are 0 or 1. Next, a fuzzy face model is produced from the distribution of zeros in the binary face.     Skin detection has different applications in computer vision such as face detection, human tracking and adult content filtering. One of the major approaches in pixel based skin detection is using Bayesian classifiers. Bayesian classifiers performance is highly related to their training set. In this paper, we introduce a new Bayesian classifier skin detection method. The main contribution of this paper is creating a huge database to create color probability tables and new method for creating skin pixels data set.     Abstract
    Motion estimation (ME) is one of the key parts of video compression algorithms. But, motion estimation and computation of motion vectors (MVs) are very time con-suming. In this paper, we propose a method for reducing the cost of motion estimation process. During this process, a series of candidate blocks should be searched to find the best motion vectors. In our method, we compare the skin parts of two blocks before comparing all pixel pairs of the two blocks. Having a preprocessing phase, the skin part comparison is performed quickly. This method provides a parameter that can be used to create a balance between the processing time and the motion estimation accuracy. © 2009 IEEE

    Herein, a hybrid hydrogel/microsphere system is introduced for accelerated wound healing by sustained release of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF). The hydrogel is composed of a mixture of PVA, gelatin and chitosan. The double-emulsion-solvent-evaporation method was utilized to obtain microspheres composed of PCL, as the organic phase, and PVA, as the aqueous phase. Subsequently, various in-vitro and in-vivo assays were performed to characterize the system.     In this study, physically cross-linked hydrogels were developed by freezing-thawing method while different concentrations of honey were included into the hydrogels for accelerated wound healing. The hydrogel was composed of chitosan, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), and gelatin with the ratio of 2:1:1 (v/v), respectively. Further, the effect of honey concentrations on antibacterial properties, and cell behavior was investigated.     In this article an attempt was made to fabricate defect-free asymmetric polysulfone (PSf) membranes for the separation of oxygen and nitrogen. The approach is based on the enhanced delayed demixing by blending surface modifying macromolecules (SMMs) in the casting solution and by immersing the cast film in isopropanol for a certain period before it is immersed in water. Different SMMs, including hydrophobic and charged SMMs, were synthesized, characterized, and blended to the host PSf.     The first step of any face processing system is detecting the location in images where faces are present. In this paper we present an upright frontal face detection system based on the multi-resolution analysis of the face. In this method firstly, skin-color information is used to detect skin pixels in color images; then, the skin-region blocks are decomposed into frequency sub-bands using contourlet transform.     Here we report on the production of highly directed ion blocks by plasma interaction of ultraviolet wavelength light produced from a KrF laser. This may support the requirement to produce a fast ignition deuterium-tritium fusion at densities not much higher than the solid state by a single shot petawatt-picoseconds ultraviolet laser pulse.     This is an experimental study on the boundary layer over an airfoil under steady and unsteady conditions. It specifically deals with the effect of plunging oscillation on the laminar/turbulent characteristics of the boundary layer. The wind tunnel measurements involved surface-mounted hot-film sensors and boundary-layer rake. The experiments were conducted at Reynolds numbers of 0.42×10 6 to 0.84 × 10 6 and the reduced frequency was varied from 0.01 to 0.11.     The effect of condensate blockage on the pressure drop near the well bore has been studied. Two types of single well simulations have been conducted and pressure drop due to condensate blockage has been quantified based on variation of gas relative permeabilities in near well bore area. The relationship of condensate banking pressure drop, gas rate and reservoir quality has been presented. It is shown that for a poor reservoir quality, condensate blockage can increase the pressure drop up to 200% of the pressure drop in the tubing

    In this paper, it is shown that the main source of mechanical energy of cardiovascular (CV) system i.e., rhythmic heart contraction is transformed to the oscillations of the CV walls and blood flow, and finally CV acoustical waves. These waves propagate through both blood flow (hemodynamical pathways) and tissues (viscoelastical pathways) toward the skin. Nonetheless, the CV walls could be assumed as the source of acoustical waves, since they act as the interface between blood flows and other tissues including skin.     This paper presents the effects of a non-uniform magnetic field on the hydrodynamic and thermal behavior of ferrofluid flow in a wavy channel by 3D numerical simulation. The wavy surfaces at the top and bottom of the channel are heated by constant heat fluxes. Moreover, the sidewalls are adiabatic. In the wavy section, in the perpendicular direction of the main flow, the magnetic field that linearly varies along the direction of the main flow is applied.
