    Abstract
    Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to investigate the performance of a specific class of high-resolution central schemes in conjunction with the black oil models for hydrocarbon reservoir simulation. Design/methodology/approach - A generalized black oil model is adopted, in which the solubility of gas in both oil and water and evaporation of oil are considered, leading to a system of equations prone to degeneracy. A computer code is generated and three test cases are solved to evaluate the performance of various schemes in terms of accuracy and discontinuity handling.     Abstract
    Iron oxide nanoparticles, γ-Fe2O3NP, were deposited onto the surface of multi-walled carbon nanotubes and CNT/γ-Fe2O3NP hybrid nanomaterials were obtained. Then linear-dendritic ABA type block copolymers consisting of polyethylene glycol as B block and poly(citric acid) as A block, PCA-PEG-PCA, were synthesized and cisplatin (cis-diamminedichloroplatinum (CDDP) - a platinum-based chemotherapy drug) was conjugated with their carboxyl functional groups and CDDP/PCA-PEG-PCA anticancer prodrugs were prepared.     Abstract
    In this study, the properties of poly (vinyl alcohol)(PVA) films incorporated with Zataria multiflora essential oil (ZMO) as a potential antioxidant/antibacterial material was investigated. PVA films were prepared from PVA solutions (2% w/v) containing different concentrations of ZMO. Water solubility, moisture absorption, water swelling, and water vapor permeability for pure PVA films were 57 ± 1.1, 99 ± 3.2%, 337 ± 8%, and 0.453 ± 0.015 g mm/m2 h, respectively. Incorporation of ZMO into PVA films caused a significant decrease in water swelling and moisture absorption and increase in solubility and water vapor permeability.     Abstract
    This experimental study is aimed at evaluation of the performance of secondary WAG injection in carbonate cores at different pressures. To do so, a comprehensive series of high-pressure high-temperature (HPHT) core flooding tests are conducted. The fluid system includes reservoir dead and live crude oil, CO 2, and synthetic brine while the chosen porous media consists of a number of fractured carbonate core samples. Parameters such as oil recovery factor, water and oil production rates, and pressure drop along the core are recorded for both dead and live oil.     The influence of the addition of the nonionic surfactants C12DMPO, C14DMPO, C10OH, and C10EO5 at concentrations between 10-5 and 10-1 mmol/L to solutions of β-casein (BCS) and β-lactoglobulin (BLG) at a fixed concentration of 10-5 mmol/L on the dilational surface rheology is studied.     Phase equilibrium data are required to estimate the capacity of a geological formation to sequester CO2. In this paper, a comprehensive study, including both thermodynamic and neural network modeling, is performed on CO2 solubility in brine. Brine is approximated by a NaCl solution. The Redlich-Kwong equation of state and Pitzer expansion are used to develop the thermodynamic model. The equation of state constants are adjusted by genetic algorithm optimization.
