Elasticity formulation for motion equations of couple stress based micro-rotating disks with varying speeds

    , Article Mechanics Based Design of Structures and Machines ; Volume 49, Issue 1 , 2021 , Pages 1-19 ; 15397734 (ISSN) Bagheri, E ; Asghari, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Bellwether Publishing, Ltd  2021
    Abstract
The elasticity formulation for equations of motion of micro-rotating disks in the presence of angular acceleration as well as the corresponding boundary conditions are developed based on the non-classical continuum theory of couple stress. The system of the boundary value problem is derived on the basis of the variational method. Analytical elasticity solutions to the system of equations are then provided. Based on the elasticity solution, the mechanical responses, including the displacement and stress fields, for varying-speed micro-rotating disks are studied. In a numerical case study, the effect of the couple stresses on the distribution of stress and displacement components are...

    Abstract
Community detection in social networks is one of the advertising methods in electronic marketing. One of the approaches to find communities in large social networks is to use greedy methods, because these methods perform very fast. Greedy methods are generally designed based on local decisions; thus, inappropriate local decisions may result in an improper global solution. The use of a greedy improved index with a futuristic approach can, to some extent, prevent inappropriate local choices. Our proposed method determines the influential nodes in the social network based on the followers and following and new futuristic greedy index. It classifies the nodes based on the influential nodes by...

    Abstract
Many scientists apply fully dynamic bin packing problem solving for resource allocation of virtual machines in cloud environments. The goal of problem-solving is to reduce the number of allocated hosts (bins) and virtual machines (items) migration rates for reducing energy consumption. This study demonstrates a greedy futuristic algorithm (proposed algorithm) for fully dynamic bin packaging with an average asymptotic approximation ratio of 1.231, better than other existing algorithms. The proposed algorithm identifies inappropriate local selections using special futuristic conditions to prevent them as much as possible. Eventually, suitable choices determine and discard the improper ones....

A hybrid control approach for LLC resonant converter

    , Article 12th Power Electronics, Drive Systems, and Technologies Conference, PEDSTC 2021, 2 February 2021 through 4 February 2021 ; 2021 ; 9780738111971 (ISBN) Barzkar, A ; Tahami, F ; Barzkar, A ; Sharif University of Technology
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc  2021
    Abstract
In this paper, a novel hybrid control approach is proposed to control the LLC resonant converter. Since the converter consists of both continuous variables and logical variables, it is intrinsically hybrid. Apart from that, because of fast dynamics of the converter and the fact that there is no closed form solution for discontinuous conduction modes (DCM), modeling and control of the LLC resonant converter is still a challenge. In the authors' previous work, a systematic model was proposed for the converter, the direct piecewise affine model. In this paper, an appropriate controller based on the proposed model is represented and the design procedure is discussed in details; the block diagram...

    Abstract
In this work, the addition of a novel polyaniline (PANI)/silica (SiO2) nanostructure (PSn) in chitosan/polyvinyl alcohol nanofibers (CP) was evaluated to enhance the dye removal capacity of CP. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) results confirmed the chemical grafting of SiO2 on PANI nanoparticles. Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) results showed a specific surface area of 61 m2 g−1 for the PSn filled CP nanofiber (CP-PSn). FE-SEM and EDS-elemental mapping results showed the uniform dispersibility of PSn in CP nanofibers. After the addition of PSn into CP, the adsorption capacity of...

    Abstract
    In this note, we study on the existence and uniqueness of a positive solution to the following doubly singular fractional problem: {(-Δ)su=K(x)uq+f(x)uγ+μinΩ,u>0inΩ,u=0in(RN\u03a9).Here Ω ⊂ RN (N> 2 s) is an open bounded domain with smooth boundary, s∈ (0 , 1) , q> 0 , γ> 0 , and K(x) is a positive Hölder continuous function in which behaves as dist (x, ∂Ω) -β near the boundary with 0 ≤ β< 2 s. Also, 0 ≤ f, μ∈ L1(Ω) , or non-negative bounded Radon measures in Ω. Moreover, we assume that 0<βs+q<1, or βs+q>1 with 2 β+ q(2 s- 1) < (2 s+ 1). For s∈(0,12), we take advantage of the convexity of Ω. For any γ> 0 , we will prove the existence of a positive weak (distributional) solution to the above...

    Abstract
In this paper, we study the effect of Hardy potential on the existence or nonexistence of solutions to the following fractional problem involving a singular nonlinearity: {(−Δ)su=λu|x|2s+μuγ+fin Ω,u>0in Ω,u=0in (RN∖Ω). Here 0 < s< 1 , λ> 0 , γ> 0 , and Ω ⊂ RN (N> 2 s) is a bounded smooth domain such that 0 ∈ Ω. Moreover, 0 ≤ μ, f∈ L1(Ω). For 0 < λ≤ Λ N,s, Λ N,s being the best constant in the fractional Hardy inequality, we find a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a positive weak solution to the problem with respect to the data μ and f. Also, for a regular datum of f, under suitable assumptions, we obtain some existence and uniqueness results and calculate the rate of...

    Abstract
Graphene oxide (GO) was chemically modified withpara-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) to immobilize copper(ii) ions on its surface and used as a nanocatalyst for the oxidative C(sp2)-H bond amination reaction. A practical method to prepare Cu2+supported onpara-aminobenzoic acid grafted on GO was reported. The prepared Cu2+@GO/PABA was characterized by FT-IR, XRD, SEM, AFM, TEM, UV-Vis, and ICP techniques. The results showed that the morphology, distribution, and loading of copper ions could be well-adjusted by grafting of PABA on GO. Moreover, just 2 mol% of Cu2+@GO-PABA could catalyze the C-H activation reaction of benzoxazole and benzothiazole with secondary amines in >94% yields. Also, the...

    Abstract
Fullerene derivatives with a strong electron-accepting ability play a crucial role in enhancing both the performance and stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, most of the used fullerene molecules are based on [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM), which limits the device performance due to difficulties in preparing high-quality and uniform thin films. Herein, solution-processable azahomofullerene (AHF) derivatives (abbreviated as AHF-1 and AHF-2) are reported as novel and effective electron-transport layers (ETLs) in p-i-n planar PSCs. Compared to the control PCBM ETL-based PSCs, the devices based on AHFs exhibit higher photovoltaic performances, which is...

A general solution procedure for the scaled boundary finite element method via shooting technique

    , Article Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering ; Volume 384 , 2021 ; 00457825 (ISSN) Daneshyar, A ; Ghaemian, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2021
    Abstract
The scaled boundary finite element method (SBFEM) is known for its inherent ability to simulate unbounded domains and singular fields, and its flexibility in the meshing procedure. Keeping the analytical form of the field variables along one coordinate intact, it transforms the governing partial differential equations of the problem into a system of one-dimensional (initial–)boundary value problems. However, closed-form solution of the said system is not available for most cases (e.g. transient heat transfer, acoustics, ultrasonics, etc.) since the system cannot be diagonalized in general. This paper aims to establish a numerical tool within the context of the shooting technique to evaluate...

A novel low-temperature growth of uniform CuInS2 thin films and their application in selenization/sulfurization-free CuInS2 solar cells

    , Article Materials Today Communications ; Volume 26 , 2021 ; 23524928 (ISSN) Dehghani, M ; Parvazian, E ; Alamgir Tehrani, N ; Taghavinia, N ; Samadpour, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In terms of manufacturability, there is a high tendency to deposit light-absorbing CuInS2 films by solution processing methods like ink-based depositions. In particular, for nanoparticle inks, the synthesis of highly dispersed and stable inks, with uniformity in the deposition process, is a serious challenge. Here, we demonstrate a novel two-step low-temperature CuInS2 film deposition method in which the In2S3 is deposited first. It then partially is converted into CuInS2 through the infiltration of Cu+ ions in the In2S3 layer in a dip-coating process. The resulting films are highly uniform, with diffraction peaks indicating the formation of pure CuInS2 phase. The proper stoichiometry of...

    Abstract
In the eld of supply chain, selecting a suitable green supplier could signi cantly help us decrease the cost and risks of the operations and increase the quality of green supply. This paper develops an integrated two-stage approach based on Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) and multi-objective mixed-integer linear programming to select suppliers and allocate order in the green supply chain. In the rst stage, suppliers are evaluated using FAHP method and in the second stage, a multi-product multi-period supply chain is developed considering green location-routing problem, discounting, and time window under uncertainty. Then, a fuzzy solution approach is applied to solve the proposed...

    Abstract
The aims of this research are to elucidate the role of graphene oxide on the mechanical properties of epoxy and also to obtain an equation for the modeling of its behavior. Accordingly, graphene oxide/epoxy nanocomposite samples are fabricated using the solution casting method. Tensile, flexural, SEM and FTIR tests are conducted on epoxy and the nanocomposite samples afterwards. The obtained results show that the tensile strength of epoxy improves even at low contents of graphene oxide such that 0.3 wt.% of GO yields an improvement of approximately 11.5%. The flexural strength of epoxy is also enhanced by 5.8% with 0.5 wt.% GO. Then, it decreases due to the agglomeration with increasing the...

    Abstract
Gravity drainage is known as the controlling mechanism of oil recovery in naturally fractured reservoirs. The efficiency of this mechanism is controlled by block-to-block interactions through capillary continuity and/or reinfiltration processes. In this study, at first, several free-fall gravity drainage experiments were conducted on a well-designed three-block apparatus and the role of tilt angle, spacers’ permeability, wettability and effective contact area (representing a different status of the block-to-block interactions between matrix blocks) on the recovery efficiency were investigated. Then, an experimental-based numerical model of free-fall gravity drainage process was developed,...

    Abstract
Short-term hydrothermal scheduling (STHTS) is a highly non-linear, multi-model, non-convex, and multi-dimensional optimization problem that has been worked upon for about 5 decades. Many research articles have been published in solving different test cases of STHTS problem, while establishing the superiority of one type of optimization algorithm over the type, in finding the near global best solution of these complex problems. This paper presents the implementation of an improved version of a variant of the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm (PSO), known as Accelerated Particle Swarm Optimization (APSO) on three benchmark test cases of STHTS problems. The adaptive and variable nature of...

    Abstract
A straightforward three-stage method was applied to fabricate a super-hydrophobic mixed-matrix nanofiber membrane using the electrospinning method for desalination purpose. First, a hydrothermal technique was applied to synthesize a super-hydrophobic nano-sheet, called octadecylamine-reduced graphene oxide (ODA-rGO) with a water contact angle of 162°, which was then added to PVDF-HFP dope solution. After, 0.005 wt% LiCl was added to the dope solution to decrease the mean pore size by increasing solution conductivity. Moreover, some membranes were hot-pressed to improve liquid entry pressure (LEP). Eventually, a top-quality nanofiber membrane was synthesized using 0.1 wt% ODA-rGO and 0.005...
