    Elsevier Ltd  2022
    Abstract
The features of heat transferral capability between metallic (Cu) and non-metallic (TiO2) nanoparticles suspended in the engine-oil (EO) third-grade base-liquid has been analysed under the influence of strong magnetic field. The numerical investigation of system of coupled differential equations for third-grade nanofluid flow model is accomplished via Quasi-linearization method (QLM). The stretching horizontal sheet is heated through convective heat process assuming the special effects of thermal radiation, joule heating, heat generation and viscous dissipation in the energy equation. The mass suction and slip velocity at the boundary of the sheet has been taken into account to enhance...

    Abstract
For the first time this work reports a new idea to develop a round-the-clock self-cleaning coating which was successfully applied to preserve cultural heritage and modern artifacts under sunlight illumination and at night. To fabricate this structure, namely, H2:TiO2/WO3@Pt, soft templating and hydrogen treatment approaches were selected to enhance the performance of TiO2/WO3 photocatalyst, together with the addition of Pt plasmonic nanoparticles. The coating can be photochemically charged in the presence of sacrificial electron donors and keep its stability, benefiting from the remained electrons stock for over 10 h to clean the surface from aggressive pollution also at night, in absence of...

    Elsevier Ltd
    Abstract
A novel and efficacious strategy was implemented for creation of mesoporous TiO2 films and powder through an integration of sol-gel and evaporation-induced self-assembly (EISA) processes aided by triblock Pluronic P123. A mesoporous crack-free thin film with virtual thickness of 300 nm was attained under 10% relative humidity aging, for 72 h at the low temperature of 5 °C. Further, the TiO2 film with porous structure has been formed from conventional paste, exploiting as-prepared mesoporous titania powder. The X-ray Diffraction (XRD) of synthesized mesoporous powder disclosed formation of anatase phase as well as rutile phase, in such a manner that the latter constituted a very small...

New approaches in lowering the gas-phase synthesis temperature of TiO2 nanoparticles by H2O-assisted atmospheric pressure CVS process

    , Article Journal of Materials Research and Technology ; Volume 8, Issue 3 , 2019 , Pages 3024-3035 ; 22387854 (ISSN) Rahiminezhad Soltani, M ; Saberyan, K ; Simchi, A ; Gammer, C ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Editora Ltda  2019
    Abstract
H2O-assisted atmospheric pressure chemical vapor synthesis is a modern economical process for the gas-phase synthesis of TiO2 nanoparticles. In the present work, the influence of synthesis temperatures (100-800 °C) on the phase structure, nanoparticle size, morphology, and agglomeration is investigated by transmission electron microscopy, selected area electron diffraction, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetry, and differential thermal analysis. Down to 400 °C, crystalline TiO2 nanoparticles are synthesized and at 200 °C amorphous nanoparticles are formed. Therefore, a decrease in minimum synthesis temperature by more than 500 °C is achieved. In addition, the paper investigates the hypothesis...

Shed light on defect induced enhanced visible-light photocatalysis activity of rutile TiO2 nanoparticles: effects of annealing on blue-gray to light–gray transition

    , Article Journal of Materials Research and Technology ; Volume 17 , 2022 , Pages 2400-2409 ; 22387854 (ISSN) Ziashahabi, A ; Poursalehi, R ; Naseri, N ; Peymani, R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Preparation of the defective TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) have been recently in particular interest for its outstanding applications in visible-light active photocatalysis. In order to make TiO2 visible-light absorber, optical band gap should be modified especially via introducing structural defects like oxygen vacancies as an effective pathway. In this research, we prepared defective rutile TiO2 NPs with highly efficient photocatalytic activity under visible light. The NPs were synthesized by electric arc discharge in water as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly method with capability of defect formation which followed by heat treatment. The photocatalytic activity improvement...

Air quenching as a reliable technique to obtain colossal dielectric constant with low loss in (In, Nb)-co doped TiO2

    , Article Materials Letters ; Volume 267 , May , 2020 Maleki Shahraki, M ; Mahmoudi, P ; Karimi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B. V  2020
    Abstract
In this research, for the first time, the effect of air quenching on the microstructural and electrical properties of (In, Nb) co-doped TiO2 was investigated. The FE-SEM images showed that the air quenching has no effect on microstructure of co-doped TiO2. However, air quenching affected the electrical properties so that the dielectric constant in the frequency of 1 kHz at room temperature sharply enhanced from 21*103 to 26*104 and the dielectric loss surprisingly decreased from 0.6 to 0.1. This incredible improvement in the dielectric properties is attributed to the electron-pined defect dipoles which has been activated through air quenching. © 2020 Elsevier B.V

Physical vapor deposition (PVD) was further employed to decorate silver oxide nanoparticles (Ag2O NPs) on the nanotubular edges. The results indicated that the highly-ordered TiO2 NTs with decorated Ag2O NPs could promote...

    Abstract

Different samples have been prepared by changing the loaded CoPi through the deposition time from 10 to 960 min. Formed catalytic materials have been characterized by different methods. Although charge transfer resistance of the CoPi/TNA photoanodes have been decreased from 5.5 to 4.0 kΩ by increasing the deposition time from 5 to 60 min, the maximum photoresponse was obtained for 10 min CoPi deposition leading to 24% more photocurrent compare to bare TNA which proposed optimum value for cobalt phosphate decoration. Based on field emission scanning electron microscopy...
