    , Article Journal of Materials Science and Technology ; 2014, Vol.0, Issue 0 Khodabakhshi, F ; Simchi, A. (Abdolreza) ; Kokabi, A. H ; Sadeghahmadi, M ; Gerlich, A. P ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Friction stir processing (FSP) is a solid state route with a capacity of preparing fine grained nanocomposites from metal sheets. In this work, we employed this process to finely distribute TiO2 nanoparticles throughout an Al–Mg alloy, aiming to enhance mechanical properties. Titanium dioxide particles (30 nm) were preplaced into grooves machined in the middle of the aluminium alloy sheet and multipass FSP was afforded. This process refined the grain structure of the aluminium alloy, distributed the hard nanoparticles in the matrix and promoted solid state chemical reactions at the interfaces of the metal/ceramic particles. Detailed optical and electron microscopic studies showed that the...

    , Article Applied Catalysis A: General ; Vol. 462–463 , July , 2013 , Pages 82–90 Ghasemia, S. (Shahnaz) ; Esfandiarb, A. (Ali) ; Rahman Setayesha, S. (Shahrbano) ; Habibi-Yangjehc, A. (Aziz) ; Iraji zadb, A. (Azam) ; Gholamia, M .R. (Mohammad Reza) ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
TiO2–graphene (TiO2–GR) nanocomposites were synthesized using photocatalytic reduction method. TiO2–GR nanocomposites were thereafter doped with noble metals (Pt and Pd) by chemical reduction of the corresponding cations. The samples were characterized by different techniques. The addition of GR to TiO2 decreases the crystalline size of TiO2 due to the homogeneous dispersion of the TiO2 nanoparticles on GR sheets and prevention of coagulation of TiO2 nanoparticles during synthesis process. In addition, the surface area of TiO2 was increased by addition of GR and deposition of noble metals which helps to prevent agglomeration of graphene sheets and TiO2 nanoparticles. Red shifts to the higher...

Investigation of diffusion and deposition of TiO2 nanoparticles in sandstone rocks for EOR application

    , Article 76th European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers Conference and Exhibition 2014: Experience the Energy - Incorporating SPE EUROPEC 2014 ; 19 June , 2014 , pp. 1031-1035 Ehtesabi, H ; Ahadian, M. M ; Taghikhani, V ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The diffusion and deposition of TiO2 nanoparticles in EOR application was investigated in this paper. TEM image of nanoparticles showed that the particles are elongated with average long and short axis sizes of 54 and 15 nm. Water flooding tests showed that the recovery factor can be improved from 49% to 80% using TiO2 nanoparticles. Viscosity and interfacial tension measurements showed that by using TiO2 nanoparticles the viscosity of injected fluid and interfacial tension do not change significantly and can not explain the change in recovery factor. Contact angle measurements showed that nanoparticles deposition changed the wettability of the rock surface from oil-wet to water-wet. SEM...

    , Article Ceramics International ; Vol. 41, issue. 1 , 2014 , pp. 217-224 ; ISSN: 02728842 Sajjadnejad, M ; Ghorbani, M ; Afshar, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Zinc-TiO2 nano-composite coatings were synthesized by Direct Current (DC) and Pulse Current (PC) electrodeposition techniques. The effects of the plating parameters on the microstructure, codeposition percentage of TiO2 and corrosion behavior were investigated. The coatings morphology presents hexagonal grains perpendicularly oriented to the surface. Under DC conditions, TiO2 content of the coatings decreased with increasing TiO2 concentration of the electrolyte. Increasing applied current and TiO2 concentration in the bath leads to a fine microstructure with corrosion currents as low as 2.7 μA/cm2. Under PC conditions, incorporation rate of nanoparticles tends to increase with increasing...
