Abstract
Considering the space of constant-weight sequences as the reference set for every optical orthogonal code (OOC) design algorithm, we propose a classification method that preserves the correlation properties of sequences. First, we introduce the circulant matrix representation of optical orthogonal codes and, based on the spectrum of circulant matrices, we define the spectral classification of the set Sn,w of all (0, 1)-sequences with length n, weight w, and the first chip 1. Then, as a method for spectrally classifying the set Sn,w, we discuss an algebraic structure called multiplicative group action. Using the above multiplicative group action, we define an equivalence relation on Sn,w in...

Abstract
In this paper we investigate the Shannon capacity of single and parallel Poisson channels in different scenarios. At first, by examining the capacity equation of the single Poisson channel, the minimum average power that maximizes the capacity is found. Then, applying the method of Lagrange multipliers on the capacity expression of the parallel Poisson channel, we obtain the optimum power allocation maximizing the parallel Poisson channel capacity

Abstract
In recent years, new Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) methodologies with a concept of "instantaneous baseline damage detection" are being developed by many researchers. In this context, this paper uses a new method to identify multiple damage in the aluminum plate. For this goal use from spars PZWS sensor network to generate and received guided waves. Ultrasonic waves are generated and measured from all possible different pairs of excitation and sensing transducers. For feature extraction of received signals used from continues wavelet transform. A probabilistic damage diagnostic algorithm based on correlation analysis was investigated to locate single or multiple damages. In this study,...
Approximation of Nonlinear Systems Based on Multiple Linear Modeling
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Haeri, Mohammad (Supervisor)
Abstract
Inthis thesis, we provide a reduced multiple linear approximationfornonlinear systems. This approximationis a weighted summation of reduced order models thatapproximates the states or output(s) of the nonlinear system. It can be used inreal-time control instead of high-ordernonlinear models in order toreduce thecomputational cost. The reduction of computation cost is claimed qualitatively, based on the linearity of the approximation and its less order compared to the original model. To form amultiple modelapproximation eachlinearmodelis obtained from linearization atanoperating point. Then, each model is reduced byalinearreduction method. We used truncation and balanced residualization...

Abstract
Electrochemical sensing performance of two-dimensional hexagonal boron nitride (2D h-BN) has traditionally been suppressed by their intrinsic electrical insulation and deficient electron transportation mechanism. However, the excellent electrocatalytic activity, high specific surface area, N- and B-active edges, structural defects, adjustable band gap through interaction with other nanomaterials, and chemical functionalization, makes 2D h-BN ideal for many sensing applications. Therefore, finding a pathway to modulate the electronic properties of 2D h-BN while the intrinsic characteristics are well preserved, will evolve a new generation of highly sensitive and selective electrochemical...

, Article RSC Advances ; Volume., 4, No (108) , Nov , 2014 , pp. (62809-62816) ; Gholami, M. R. (Mohammad Reza) ; Sharif University of Technology
2014
Abstract
A combined experimental and computational study was carried out on the gas phase pyrolysis reaction of diallylsulfoxide. Allylalcohol and Thioacrolein were detected as the major products during a unimolecular reaction. Experimental kinetic studies were carried out via a static system over the pressure of 21-55 torr and temperature of 435.2-475.1 K. Based on the experiments, the reaction is homogeneous and proceeds through a zwitterionic intermediate. Computational studies at the DFT (B3LYP) and QCISD(T) levels with 6-311++G(d,p) basis set indicated a two-step concerted pathway as the possible route. Comparison between the experimental and theoretical activation parameters for the most...

, Article Journal of Molecular Structure: THEOCHEM ; Volume 893, Issues 1–3 , January , 2009 , Pages 73–76 ; Haqgu, M. (Mohammad) ; Talebi, A ; Gholami, M. R. (Mohammad Reza) ; Sharif University of Technology
2009
Abstract
A joint theoretical and experimental study of the kinetic and mechanism of the rearrangement of allyl p-tolyl ether was performed in order to study the kinetic and mechanism of the reaction. Experimental studies were performed in gas phase over a temperature range of 493.15–533.15 K. The experimental Arrhenius parameters of this reaction were measured to be Ea = 36.08 kcal mol−1, ΔS# = −7.88 cal mol−1 K−1, and Log A = 11.74, experimentally. Using GC for the mixture of the reaction with and without cyclohexene demonstrated that the reaction is clean without any radical intermediates. The experimental results show that the studied reaction is unimolecular and proceeds through a concerted...

Abstract
Aluminum 6xxx and 7xxx series are among the most commonly used alloys in industrial applications whereas their joining and welding using conventional fusion-based weld processes are very difficult. In this paper, friction stir welding process of dissimilar AA6061-T6 and AA-7277-T6 aluminum plates was investigated. The effects of tool travers and rotational speeds and the type of material located in the advanced side (AS) or retreating side (RS) of weldment were studied experimentally on the mechanical and metallurgical characteristics of the joint. Macro- and microstructure pictures of weld region were used to evaluate the quality of the weld and defect detections. Tensile strength tests and...

Abstract
Achieving high densification parameter is an essential factor for metal-based composites to represent excellent mechanical characteristics. Among various compaction methods, double-pressing double-sintering (DPDS) has gained the attraction of researchers to fabricate metal-matrix composites (MMCs) as an efficient technique over the last decade. In this process, the powder will be pre-pressed and then pre-sintered; it helps reduce work hardening and prepare the sample for better densification in the next pressing and sintering step. By employing the above-mentioned method, carbon nanotube (CNT) reinforced aluminum nanocomposites; ZrB2 reinforced copper nanocomposites; and CNT reinforced...
Evaluating the effect of non-poisson traffic patterns on power consumption of sleep mode in the IEEE 802.16e MAC
, Article 4th IEEE and IFIP International Conference on Wireless and Optical Communications Networks, WOCN 2007, Singapore, 2 July 2007 through 4 July 2007 ; 2007 ; 1424410045 (ISBN); 9781424410040 (ISBN) ; Nayebi, M. M ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
In this paper, we study the effect of non-Poisson traffic patterns on energy consumption for IEEE 802.16e nodes while operating in the sleep mode. In the sleep mode, a Mobile Subscribe Station (MSS) sleeps for a sleep interval and wakes up at the end of this interval in order to check buffered packet(s) at Base Station (BS) destined to it. If there is no packet, the MSS increases the sleep window up to the maximum value and sleeps again. For a more general traffic pattern (rather than Poisson), we evaluate the average power consumption. Based on our analysis, we conclude that traffic pattern plays an important role in power consumption. ©2007 IEEE
The synthesis of multiphasic ionic liquid-coated Pt/Al2O3 catalysts: the selective synchronous hydrogenation of C=C and C=O bonds and the modeling of the ionic liquid and solvent effects
, Article Catalysis Science & Technology ; Issue 2, 2014 , Oct , 2013 , pages 447-455 ; Tasviri, M. (Mahboubeh) ; Khodadadi-moghaddam, M. (Mohammad) ; Gholami, M. R. (Mohammad Reza) ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
Various ionic liquids (ILs) and their mixtures were coated on the Pt/Al2O3 catalyst and the resulting IL-coated catalysts were used in the synchronous hydrogenation of cyclohexene and acetone. The rate constant (k) and selectivity (S) toward CO hydrogenation were determined for several catalysts in various solvents. The solvatochromic parameters (ETN, normalized polarity parameter; π*, dipolarity-polarizability; β, hydrogen-bond acceptor basicity; α, hydrogen-bond donor acidity) were determined for the used ILs and solvents and the obtained selectivities were modeled based on the solvatochromic parameters of the IL layer and bulk solvent while using the Multiparameter Linear Regression (MLR)...
Modified CMC: part 1- optimized synthesis of carboxymethylcellulose-g-polyacrylonitrile [electronic resource]
, Article Iranian Polymer Journal ; Vol. 14, No 2, 131-138, 2005 ; Pourjavadi, A ; Sadeghi, M
Abstract
As the first part of a continued research on conversion of carboxymethyl cellulosesodium salt (CMC) to useful biopolymer-based materials, large numbers of cyanide functional groups were introduced onto CMC by grafting with polyacrylonitrile (PAN). The graft copolymerization reactions were carried out under nitrogen atmosphere using ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN) as an initiator. Evidence of grafting was obtained by comparing FTIR spectra of CMC and the graft copolymer as well as solubility characteristics of the products. The synthetic conditions were systematically optimized through studying the effective factors including temperature and concentrations of initiator, acrylonitrile monomer,...

Abstract
Zeolite-based photocatalysts were prepared by the sol-gel and deposition methods. The photocatalysts were characterised by X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms, FTIR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry. The activity of the prepared photocatalysts was evaluated by the UV-induced degradation of acid blue 92, a textile dye in common use. The effect of various parameters, such as catalyst concentration, initial dye concentration, thiosulphate concentration and pH, on the rate and efficiency of the photocatalytic degradation of acid blue 92 was investigated. The results showed that each parameter influenced the degradation...

Cu surface segregation in Ni/Cu system
, Article Vacuum ; Volume 84, Issue 4 , 8 December , 2009 , PP. 469-473 ; Iraji Zad, A. (Azam) ; Ahadian, M. M. (Mohammad M.) ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
We report experimental evidence of Cu surface segregation in Ni/Cu system, during deposition of Ni film onto Cu substrate at room temperature and during heat treatment in vacuum. Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) by Tougaard's analysis results show that surface segregation defeats in competition with increase in Ni thickness and terminates when thickness of Ni increase to more than 4 nm. Surface energy and concentration were calculated using contact angle measurements and the results confirm that segregation reduces the surface energy. Surface segregation during heat treatment at 150–220 °C range as a function of time initially shows linear mass...

Abstract
Functionalized magnetic core–zeolitic shell nanocomposites were prepared via hydrothermal and precipitation methods. The products were characterized by vibrating sample magnetometer, X-ray powder diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, nitrogen adsorption–desorption isotherms, and transmission electron microscopy analysis. The growth of mordenite nanocrystals on the outer surface of silica-coated magnetic nanoparticles at the presence of organic templates was well approved. The removal performance and the selectivity of mixed metal ions (Pb2+ and Cd2+) in aqueous solution were investigated via the sorption process. The batch method was employed to study the sorption kinetic,...
Theoretical study of protic solvents hydrogen bonding effect, on the reaction of cyclopentadiene and vinyl acetate; apart from the bulk properties

Abstract
Ab initio, DFT, Monte Carlo statistical mechanics and atom in molecule methods have been applied to investigate the hydrogen bonding effect of protic solvents, apart from the bulk properties, on the reaction of cyclopentadiene and vinyl acetate. The results show that methanol accelerates the rate of the reaction more than water. DFT calculations demonstrate that the interaction of the carbonyl group oxygen atom with solvent molecules in transition state is stronger and more effective than the ether-type oxygen atom. Also, when the solvent molecule is near the oxygen of the carbonyl group the rate of reaction is larger than when it is near the ether-type oxygen. In addition, methanol...
