Finite Element Simulation of Nanoindentation and Nanoscratch Tests on Nanocoatings
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Farrahi, Gholamhossein (Supervisor) ; Fallah Rajabzadeh, Famida (Co-Advisor)
Abstract
Coatings are used in order to prevent wear, corrosion, thermal gradient reduction, surface strength improving and many other applications in industries. One of the common applications of coatings, is to prevent wear and surface abrasion. Hardness and friction coefficients are two parameters that determine the wear properties of a coating. Determining these parameters in very thin films is only possible by nanoindentation and nanoscratch tests. Surface hardness, young modulus and fracture toughness can be obtained using nanoindentation and friction coefficient is calculated from nanoscratch.

Enhanced Superhydrophobic and Photocatalytic Characteristics of Tio2 Hybrid Nanocoating for Self-cleaning Applications
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Mohammadi, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Many researches have been made on super hydrophobic and photocatalyst nano coatings in the last decades as a solution to some environmental issues. Among all semiconductors chosen for this property, titanium dioxide is often used because of it's low cost, ease of accessibility and stability in different chemical circumstances to break up organic pollutions. Mixing this property of TiO2 with hydrophobic manner of SiO2 causes a superhydrophobe & photocatalyst nano coating. Doping TiO2 with another semiconductor may also improve photocatalytic behavior of coating by increasing surface area of reaction or decreasing the band-gap.In this research TiO2-SiO2 hybrid nano coating is made via...
Preparation and Characterization of Anticorrosive Epoxy Coating based on Inhibitor Loaded Metal-Organic Framework Nanostructures
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Shojaei, Akbar (Supervisor) ; Molavi, Hossein (Co-Supervisor)
Abstract
In this study, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) UiO-66 and NH2-UiO-66 were prepared and loaded with 2-mercaptobenzothiazole as corrosion inhibitor .Epoxy coatings containing inhibitor loaded nanoparticles were applied on mild steel to corrosion protection in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) was used to confirm Inhibitor loading. In order to estimate the loading amount of corrosion inhibitor, thermogravimetric analysis was investigated. FE-SEM images demonstrated nanoparticle dispersibility in epoxy matrix. The results of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) alalysis showed improvement of the corrosion resistance of the coatings containing...
