  7. Abstract:
  8. In this research a copper- diamond nanocomposite coating prepared by electrodeposition from a sulfate bath in order to increase the hardness and erosion resistance of cooper without disturbing cooper's specific physical properties as like as electrical and thermal conductivity. The mechanism of electrodeposition was analyzed with the technique of Cyclic Voltammetry, Chronopotentiometry and Chronoamperometry. The morphology, hardness, scratch resistance, elastic modulus and friction factor of coating were investigated by using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and atomic force microscope(AFM) also the mechanism of co- deposition of diamond particles with copper was corresponded with Guglielmi model. According to the results, electrodeposition was controlled with diffusion with a limited and steady state current and the mechanism of nucleation is absolutely uniform. Addition of nanodiamond particles from 1 to 4g/l decrease the diffusion factor of copper ions from to and increase the amount of diamond from 5.6 to 17.8vol%. this particles had a hardening effect on copper matrix from 0.9 to 2.38 G.pa and enhanced elastic modulus from 114.5 to 205 G.pa
