Stability and Tracking of Periodic Orbits Between the Earth and the Moon

- Periodic orbits in a three-body problem are important issues. These orbits are mostly unstable. The Main reason of this instability is the second mass gravity. So, these orbits are deviated from Keplerian orbits. Besides, controlling a spaceship in these orbits is an important issue. In this research stability of these orbits are studied. We used Flouquet and Lyuponov exponents for measuring the instability. We introduced a new method for double Poincare map, as well. These maps can show the system changes in state space. In addition to above we introduced an algorithm that can reduce the time of periodic orbit finding. The conventional and unconventional control methods for stabilizing a spaceship on these periodic orbits are investigated. We used PI and Sliding-mode controllers for stabilizing. Also we check the convergence of controller for stabilizing. Then we show that with current level of technology, we can stabilize a spaceship on these orbits for more than 10 years. Then we checked the navigation issue in the problem. Celestial (geometrical) navigation, inertial navigation, and combined navigation were also checked. We studied applications of these periodic orbits. We introduced refueling space station for very long space missions. Also we studied space station for studying the Earth magnetic field and its interaction with solar winds, off-plane velocity magnifier for out of the plane missions about the Earth, distant points for space telescopes and some other application for these periodic orbits. In addition, the applications were checked based on chaotic behavior of these orbits for imaging and some other purposes.
