  7. Abstract:
  8. The purpose of this project is to synthesis of O2N3-azacrown ligands with 17 to 21 membered ring and investigation of their interaction with C60 according to increase ring size. These macrocyclic ligands can be used in C60 purification. In this project, change in macrocyclic cavity for finding the best macrocycle with appropriate cavity to C60 size has been considered. Firstly, five O2N3-azacrown ligands were synthesized and characterized by NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Interaction of these ligands were considered by electronic spectroscopy applying Benesi-Hildebrand equation. According to the results, it was found that the best macrocycle for formation of stable complex with C60, was 20-membered ring-size macrocycle. Thermodynamic parameter e.g. ∆S, ∆G and ∆H were also determined by calculation of K in different temperatures and applying van,t Hoff equations. For comparison of interaction of 20 membered ring macrocycle with C60 and Cu(II), the formation constant arising from the complexation of this macrocycle with Cu(II) was calculated by Benesi-Hildebrand method. It was found that complex of C60 with 20-membered ring-size macrocycle was more stable. More, new nano-ligands were synthesized by direct linkage of C60 to macrocycles and proven by change in its chemical shifts measured by NMR spectroscopy in respect to the chemical shifts measured by pure macrocycles. Also, the stoichiometry of C60:macrocycle in these adducts were determined by thermal analysis (TGA). At the end, the formation constant arising from complexation of these new nano-ligands wiyh Cu(II) were calculated by electronic spectroscopy and Benesi-Hildebrand method.
