  7. Abstract:
  8. According to high nominal pressure and controllable flow, variable displacement axial piston pumps are used widely in hydraulic industry. However, there still exist many problems and limitations in the areas of design, controllers and performance. To solve the problems without wasting time and money in making prototypes, an accurate dynamic model of the pump is required which predicts pump behavior under various control signals and loads. The lack of simple and practical methods of measuring describing parameters of pump dynamics, makes investigation and verification of such a model very challenging. In this thesis, literature review is presented in a wide range. After investigating of numerous models in previous works, the describing equations of the pump used in study, were derived. In order to study pump response more accurately, the control pressure of control piston chamber were derived by modeling of pressure compensating element. In order to verify the simulation, some of the model parameters were measured directly after disassembling of the pump and the rest were derived from pump documents. The simulation results were compared to plots and data from documents and finally the advantages and disadvantages of the model were discussed and some hints were proposed for further research
