- Abstract:
- Today, due to limited number of light oil reservoirs, enhanced recovery from heavy oil reservoirs is taken into consideration. During the early production from heavy oil reservoirs, due to high viscosity, only a small amount (about 5%) of the oil can be produced; also after water injection operation due to unfavorable mobility ratio of water and oil, sorely more than about 10% of the original oil can be produced. On the other hand, fractured reservoirs represent about 20% of the world's oil reserves, while over 60% of the world's remaining oil reserves are in fractured reservoirs. Water flooding process leaves very high amounts of oil as remaining oil in these reservoirs too. One of the methods that could be suitable for EOR on fractured reservoirs with heavy oil is chemical injection. Flooding with surfactant is a conventional chemical method to reduce the interfacial tension between the fluids and as the result of surfactant injection, capillary forces that trap the oil drop is reduced and thus the efficiency of oil production is increased. Recently, the use of nanoparticles in order to improve the efficiency of the chemical injection process is taken into consideration. Nanoparticles by reducing the interfacial tension between the fluid injection and the oil, changing the wettability of the porous medium and also spontaneous emulsification, force the oil to be released from the holes and so help oil recovery to be increased. The issue that how much nanoparticles with water-based surfactants can improved recovery efficiency and also operation mechanism of water-based surfactants containing nanoparticles have been less studied in references and the limited available studies are flooding tests on core samples. But, in this study, microscopic and macroscopic efficiency of heavy oil in injection of two different types of nanoparticles with two different types of surface active material in five spot fractured porous medium have been investigated. This new method of chemical recovery with improving most important parameters can extremely increase oil recovery. In this study the role of various factors on the recovery such as type and concentration of surfactant, type and concentration of nanoparticles, wettability changes, emulsion formation and also the role of geometrical properties of fracture such as length, direction, frequency, continuity, orientation and dispersion of fractures have been investigated
