- Abstract:
- In this project after literature survey, an endemic Iranian plant called Dracocephalum kotschyi Boiss. that have various medicinal properties has been selected. The essential oil of this plant has not extracted by supercritical fluid technology up to now and this is first work. In order to achieve the maximum yield and optimization of process five parameter in four level has been selected including: Pressure, Temperature, Carbon dioxide flow rate, particle size and dynamic time. For reduction of the number of experiment, Taguchi design of experiment (DOE) and its L16 orthogonal array has been used. Total yield of extraction in each experiment calculated by dividing the mass of produced essence on primary mass in feed powder and the chemical composition of essential oil in maximum and minimum run was analyzed by GC/MS method. The results at optimum condition was wonderful as the amount of total yield of Dracocephalum kotschyi that obtained at optimum condition was 1.76 % . It is three times of the maximum amount of yield of this plant that had been reported by traditional method in literature. The optimum operating condition was 240 bar , 60 C ,10 ml/s, 500 µm and 100 min
