  7. Abstract:
  8. The main task of the spine from the mechanical point of view, withstand external loads and allow the upper body movements. Hence, as the chief cause of back pain are mechanical parameters. Inability to directly measure the forces acting on the spine as in vivo, further brings us to the use of computer models in various branches of orthopedic biomechanics leads.
The purpose of this project in the first place) to make a detailed finite element model of the L4-L5 spinal motion but, in the second place) loads imposed on it except move in a certain physical activities, taking into account the forces acting muscles (calculated by a musculoskeletal model is available) under which they operate, and in third place) estimating the loads on various components except the motor (procedural joint contact force and pressure on the intervertebral discs, etc.) to assess the risk of the Activities registered. Accurate estimates of the forces acting on the spine during different activities, programs designed to prevent back injuries, designing effective methods of rehabilitation, design work, helping to explain how proper unloading activities, particularly in the labor and the post-operative care is very important.
To create the desired model of the L4-L5 motion segment, the experimental results of 8 healthy volunteers were used. After selecting the best model given the data available in the literature, geometric model of motion segment was created in Catia. This model is implemented in Abaqus and then exert boundary conditions and loading, to analyze it. Lifting that are considered moderate speed (not fast and not too slow) are performed, so that issues and Poroelasticity and Viscoelasticity are not in this study.
In order to verify the feasibility of the model, the results obtained in range of motion with the results of three studies, the four-line flexion, extension, lateral bending and axial rotation, were compared. Comparison of range of motion in all directions of motion represent the accuracy of the model was evaluated. Then, the resultant force and the weight of the upper body muscles for the activities specified static (relaxed standing and stand to carry the load of 20 kg), obtained from the musculoskeletal model, the model and the pressure inside the hard core, the contact pressure on the joints and we calculate the vertical handover procedure. Comparison with experimental results available in the hard-core pressure, indicating an acceptable fit. Using this model, we can work muscle forces in various activities besides motion segment behavior was investigated
