  7. Abstract:
  8. In this project, in order to model the flat rolling problems, an analytical method based on Bezier functions has been presented. To this goal, using the Bezier functions, the velocity field of the flat rolling has been stablished and the volume constancy condition and velocity boundary conditions have been considered in calculations. Using the achieved velocity field, the strain rate and strain fields has been determined. Then, with derived fields, power, pressure, and force of the deformation in flat-rolled billets from different materials such as copper, aluminium and steel have been calculated. To verify the accuracy of the results, the rolling process has been carried out on the aluminium plate. The results of hardness test from longitudinal section of the plate in the deformation zone have been compared with the results of the strain fields. In this regard, flat rolling tests have been performed in different reductions(3/7%, 18% and 27%) and rolling velocities (40 rpm and 60 rpm). It was observed that there is a good agreement between the theoretical results from the current study and experiments. Also, the obtained strain distributions in this study have been compared with the results of finite element simulation and the comparisons showed a good consistency between the results of two simulation methods. In addition, the effects of the rolling parameters such as rolling velocity, roll radius, reduction, and friction on the rolling force and velocity, strain rate and strain fields have been shown. This comparison showed that the model proposed in this research has a good agreement with the results of other methods. Although in some cases, higher values in rolling force and torque were obtained. These differences were attributed to the nature of the upper bound method and the additional strain caused by shear on shear planes in formulation of this study
