  7. Abstract:
  8. Due to increased mortality from Coronary Heart Disease, it is important to work on ways to treat this disease. An effective method of treatment on this disease is the coronary stent implantation. There are nearly two decades passed since implanting the first heart stent. The main objective of this research is design and manufacturing of the medical stents of stainless steel 316 L. Stent materials should have excellent corrosion resistance and biocompatibility. Various materials such as stainless steel 316 L, platinum alloys, niobium alloys, cobalt alloys are used for manufacturing the stents. In this project, at the first stage seam tube was prodected with laser welding of a tube with diameter of about 2-3 mm. The next step was creating a geometric network on the tube by laser cutting. The seam tube was producted by forming-bending of a 1 cm wide stainless steel 316 L strip. Using the Solid Work software, the pattern was drawn in the space program and laser cutting was carried out by a laser machine to create geometric grid on the tubes. At the end, surface properties of the stent was investigated and evaluated by roughness test before and after electropolishing. By optimizing the electropolishing conditions (voltage 15 and 120 seconds) a smooth surface of the stent with the surface roughness of 0.1 micrometers was obtained
