- Abstract:
- Marine hotels are a new idea in marine industries all over the world. Also, it's not done any targeted and academic research on them in the country even in other countries up to now. For this reason in this project a conceptual design sequence is presented for marine hotels particularly floating hotels. At first, it's presented a complete introduction for modern marine structures such as floating hotels, under water tunnels, marine aquarium and restaurants. Also there is introduction to their working system, environmental conditions, their effeteness on environment and feasibility of their construction. In the following a simple cylindrical model of a floating hotel and its systems are presented. This is the first level of a simple hydrodynamic analysis using diffraction theory. At the end optimized shape of the hotel is analyzed with BEM and MEEM method to determine hydrodynamic coefficients (added mass and damping) and its amplitude and frequency in the heave motion. It is shown that adding a disk to the end of hotel will increase added mass and damping coefficients and decrease amplitude of the heave motion. Also, vertical position of this disk is important to control hydrodynamic coefficient. Therefore using a cylindrical body with a disk is better than a cylindrical body without disk to construct a floating hotel
