- Abstract:
- In this research, different methods of coating polyaniline on the anode electrode and its performance in a microbial fuel cell, and a chemical method for making polyaniline / graphene catalyst on a cathode electrode and its performance in microbial electrolysis cell electrode were investigated. There are two main goals in this study. First, the production of polyaniline and the comparison of the surface morphology of this fiber with other forms of polyaniline on the surface of the electrode and its effect on the performance of the microbial fuel cell and the second, the production of polyaniline / graphene catalyst in the cathode electrode and its comparison with the platinum catalyst in the microbial electrolysis cell. The performance of systems in a batch mode was studied. In this study, the dairy industry, which has very high energy content, was used. The application of resistance in all three microbial fuel cell systems reduced potential differences. Increased resistance in all three systems increased the stationary phase duration and decreased growth rate of the increasing phase. Polarization diagrams showed the appearance of the phenomenon in all three systems. The highest density was 28 w / m3, the efficiency of columbic 17%, and removal chemical oxygen demand of 67% for the system coated with fibers. Using Polyaniline / graphene catalyst in microbial electrolysis cell at 0.9 V applied voltage, the current density and produced hydrogen gas were 227 A/m3 and 6.54 ml respectively, which is 9% and 23% less relative to the platinum catalyst
