  7. Abstract:
  8. MOFs are new class of materials that are used in different scientific fields because of their hybrid structure. In this project, focused on two specific applications, and aim is synthesis of a nanostructure which has antibacterial and photocatalytic activity. ZIF-8 because of its chemical and physical stability has been studied. For improving antibacterial influence and photocatalytic activity, silver nanoparticles are added to the structure. Magnetic nanoparticles covered by silica were used as core to facilitate separation process, ZIF-8 structure was constructed as shell on SiO2@Fe2O3 nano spheres. Magnetic nanoparticles improving stability of ZIF-8 in aqueous solutions. Synthetic nano structures are charactriezed by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), SEM microscopy, FTIR spectra, EDX, ICP-OES and VSM analysis. In the first step of this project bacteria growth inhibitory assay of nano catalysts was investigated in both liquid and solid culture media. Two different species of bacteria, gram negative (E.coli) and gram positive (S.aureus) were studied. Fluorescent microscopy was used to distinguish live/dead bacteria in culture, and the results confirms the antibacterial activity of these materials so that inhibition efficiency in liquid culture media has reprted more than 95%. In the second step, photocatalytic degradation of RhB dye has been examined. The results indicate that by improving the structure of nano catalyst, dye can be degrade well under UV irradiation
